LeBron James Named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

MIAMI, March 21st – The NBA announced today that Miami HEAT forward LeBron James was named the Eastern Conference Player of Week for games played March 14-20. This marks the 31st time James has earned Player of the Week accolades in his career, the most times a player has earned the honors in NBA history. It also marks the 33rd time in franchise history a HEAT player has earned Player of the Week honors and the fifth time James has earned the honor as a member of the HEAT.

He led the HEAT to a 3-1 week, averaging a league-best 29.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 54.7 percent (47-of-86) from the field, 40 percent (6-of-15) from three-point range and 94.1 percent (16-of-17) from the foul line. He led the team in scoring, assists, steals and minutes twice each and in blocked shots once.

In a 30-point, 110-80, victory over San Antonio on March 14, James scored 21 points, dished out a game-high eight assists, grabbed six rebounds and blocked a game-high two shots in 41:31 minutes of action. He then posted 19 points, eight rebounds, a team-high three assists, one steal and one block in a 96-85 losing effort on March 16 against Oklahoma City. James then recorded his fourth 40-point game of the season posting a game-high 43 points while shooting 76.2 percent from the field and tallied three assists and two rebounds in a 21-point, 106-85, win at Atlanta on March 18. During the game, James scored his 17,000th point, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to reach that mark. On the second night of a back-to-back set on March 19 vs. Denver, he scored a game-high 33 points, six rebounds, two assists and a game-high two steals in 40:40 minutes. Additionally, James leads the HEAT in scoring (1,794), assists (470) and steals (99).

Among league leaders this season, James ranks 2nd in scoring (26.4), 6th in minutes (38.4), 13th in assists (6.9), 13th in steals (1.46), tied for 27th in field goal percentage (.501) and tied for 31st in rebounds (7.4).
