MIAMI, April 22 – Ginger Melendez was declared winner of the Miami HEAT ‘Kiss the Trophy’ contest held today at the AmericanAirlines Arena. Earlier in the day, the Larry O’Brien trophy was delivered to Miami by NBA Legends Clyde Drexler, Moses Malone, Nate Archibald, George Gervin and Artis Gilmore as part of the NBA Legends Tour, signifying the start of the 2005 NBA Playoffs.

Melendez, a 19-year old Miami resident, outlasted Sam Rabin, 51, by kissing the Larry O’Brien trophy for 55 minutes. As the grand-prize winner, Melendez received two tickets to all 2005 HEAT home playoff games. The runner-up received two HEAT tickets to Game One of the first round. Melendez and Rabin were randomly selected from all of the entrants who registered for the promotion at the Great Florida Bank branch location on Miami Beach last weekend.
