THE MIAMI HEAT JUNIOR JAM, a high-energy dance troupe created in December 1998, shocks everyone that has a chance to catch their latest performance.
That's because the Junior Jam isn't just any dance troupe --
but one made up of kids as young as eight and no older than 13!
When the music comes on, however, the Miami HEAT Junior Jam
comes alive with smooth hip-hop moves that rival many adult dance
troupes.
The dancers who make up the Miami HEAT Junior Jam were picked
from dozens of children who auditioned at an open call. The
ones who made the team were picked for their talent as well as
positive attitude and desire to represent the HEAT to South
Florida's youth.
Once selected, their moves and philosophy were molded by first-year director and choreographer Kristine Stephenson.
Today, the Miami HEAT Junior Jam can be seen at selected Miami
HEAT games and at community events throughout South Florida.
They've also been featured on the "NBA Inside Stuff" TV show and
WAMI-Channel 69; and locally at the enormously successful 2000 Meet
the HEAT event at The Shops at Sunset Place in Miami, and other exciting
events.
