Miami HEAT Wheels to Partcipate in 7th NWBA Division III Tournament

MIAMI, Feb. 14 – The Miami HEAT Wheels, a team of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) and sponsored by the Miami HEAT, the Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation Department and the Leisure Access Foundation, have earned the No. 2 seed in the 7th NWBA Division III National Tournament in Bloomington, Illinois. The 24-team, double-elimination tournament is scheduled for February 16-19. The Miami HEAT will honor the HEAT Wheels during its March 29 contest versus the Toronto Raptors.

The HEAT Wheels, currently ranked No. 2 in the nation, enter the tournament with its best regular-season mark in team history, posting a 16-2 record while going a franchise best 12-0 in the conference.

For having the No. 2 seed, the HEAT Wheels have earned a first-round bye and will play its first game Wednesday, February 16, at 7:00 pm.

The HEAT Wheels’ conference is made up of five teams throughout Florida, including the Gulf Coast Barracudas, Orlando Magic Wheels, North Florida Rollin’ Ospreys and Brooks Rehab.

Seeding for the 7th NWBA Division III Tournament was based on overall record, head-to-head scores and strength of schedule. Allowances were also made so teams from the same conference or geographic area would not play in the first round.
