HEAT Week 2009-10

Fans Are Encouraged To Participate In a Series of Activities from October 20 – October 28

MIAMI, 10/19 – As the Miami HEAT ramps up for the 2009-10 season, the franchise aims to celebrate during the days leading up to the Opening Night contest versus the New York Knicks on October 28. HEAT Week will begin October 20 and the HEAT will host a different event each day to generate enthusiasm in South Florida. During HEAT Week, the festivities will touch the community in a variety of exciting ways including various community events and unique opportunities to engage in the HEAT experience and feel it live.  

A complete listing of all HEAT Week events is listed below.  

October 20

HEAT After Dark - 8:00PM - 12:00AM

HEAT Fans ages 18 and older are invited to come down to the AmericanAirlines Arena to engage in the thrill of playing in the coolest pickup basketball game ever on the HEAT hardwood. Fans will enjoy an evening of hoops, HEAT Dancers, music and special lighting during HEAT After Dark on October 20 from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. This event is free and open to the public and all participants will receive a free HEAT After Dark T-shirt.

October 21

Memphis Grizzlies @ HEAT - 7:30PM

The HEAT take on the Memphis Grizzlies in this pre-season game beginning at 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard in English on WINZ 940 AM radio and in Spanish on WQBA 1140 AM. Tickets start at just $10 and can be purchased online @ HEAT.com, at the Verizon Wireless Ticket Office at AmericanAirlines Arena, at all Ticketmaster outlets or by phoning 1-800-4NBA-TIX.

October 22

HEAT Take Over McDonald's - 1:00PM - 3:00PM

The HEAT Experience will descend upon McDonald’s restaurant located at 32 Avenue and U.S.1 in Coconut Grove. The HEAT Dancers, Burnie, the Xtreme Team and DJ MDOT will serve product, entertain and interact with customers, as well as give away HEAT tickets and other cool stuff.

October 22 

Atlanta @ HEAT (Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville) - 7:00PM

The HEAT take on their 2009 playoff rivals, the Atlanta Hawks, in a pre-season game hosted at Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville beginning at 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard in English on WINZ 940 AM radio.

October 23

HEAT Happy Hour @ Tobacco Road - 5:00PM - 8:00PM

HEAT Fans can start their weekend early by joining the HEAT Experience at Miami’s oldest bar, Tobacco Road, which is celebrating its 97th anniversary. The HEAT Dancers, Burnie and the Xtreme Team will mingle with HEAT fans while in-arena emcee, Dale, will host the festivities. There will be 97¢ bottles of Miller Lite from 6:00 p.m. – 7:37 p.m., live music, contests, giveaways and more. The Miller Lite Girls will be present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. distributing Miller Lite promotional items. Tobacco Road is located at 626 South Miami Avenue in downtown Miami.

October 24  

Tweet With The HEAT: Scavenger Hunt via Twitter @ Dolphin Mall - 1:00PM - 3:00PM

The HEAT will be conducting a Scavenger Hunt exclusively via Twitter at Dolphin Mall on October 24.  Registration starts at 12:00 noon at the Miami Hoops Gear store, and only fans that sign up to follow @MHEAT will be in the loop. The winner of the HEAT Scavenger Hunt will win 09-10 HEAT Season Tickets and all participants will have a chance to interact with the HEAT Experience, win free stuff and, if they can figure out the clues, meet some very tall special guests.  Follow The HEAT on Twitter! @MHEAT

October 25

HEAT Open Practice presented by adidas - 11:00AM - 1:30PM

Your Miami HEAT will host an Open Practice on Sunday, October 25 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at AmericanAirlines Arena. HEAT fans will get a close-up look at the 09-10 Miami HEAT just a few days prior to Opening Night, as HEAT Head Coach Erik Spoelstra runs practice drills and other activities for the attending fans. The first 500 fans will receive a FREE hat courtesy of adidas. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and the event is free and open to the public. Free parking will also be made available in the P2 parking garage while space is available.

October 26

Rush Hour HEAT - 7:00AM - 9:00AM

The HEAT will pay the tolls for the morning commuters heading east through the 836 interchange near downtown Miami at N.W. 17th Avenue. The HEAT Dancers and Burnie will be inside the toll booths greeting drivers and handing out free HEAT goodies including a special buy one get one free ticket offer for Opening Night and select November home games. 

October 26

Papa John's Pizza Deliveries - 6:00PM - 8:00PM

Papa John’s may deliver more than just pizza on this day! Order a Papa John’s pizza during the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. from select Papa John’s locations and it might be delivered by a HEAT player, a HEAT Dancer, Burnie or the Xtreme Team! All Miami-Dade, Broward, and West Palm Beach Papa John’s locations will also deliver a voucher redeemable for one (1) free HEAT ticket for select November home games with all pizzas delivered between 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. to the first 20 deliveries.

 October 27

HEAT Car Window Decal Event - 5:00PM - 7:00PM

HEAT Fans can show some love for their favorite team by stopping by the AmericanAirlines Arena to have a FREE HEAT window decal placed on their cars (while supplies last). Stop by to meet the HEAT Dancers, pick up some free HEAT gear and get your ride ready for HEAT season.

October 28 

Opening Night vs.New York Knicks - 7:30PM

Opening Night on October 28 promises to be a night to remember when your Miami HEAT will retire Tim Hardaway’s number 10 jersey in a pre-game ceremony prior to the game against their nemesis, the New York Knicks. The HEAT will distribute 20,000 commemorative Tim Hardaway posters courtesy of Doctors Hospital to all fans in attendance. Individual tickets start as low as $10 and can be purchased online at HEAT.com, at the Verizon Wireless Ticket Office at AmericanAirlines Arena, at all Ticketmaster outlets or by phoning 1-800-4NBA-TIX.
