HEAT Encourages South Florida Community to Work Together To Keep Dwyane Wade in “Wade County”

MIAMI, 5/13 – In preparation for the most significant off-season in team history, the Miami HEAT announced today the unveiling of We Want Wade – an interactive, community-wide campaign aimed at keeping six-time All-Star Dwyane Wade in a Miami HEAT uniform.

Although Wade has emphatically stated that Miami is where he wants to be, he is expected to become a free-agent during the upcoming HEAT Summer of 2010. The team, therefore, is looking to partner with the South Florida community and local municipalities to host a number of activities designed to encourage everyone to do their part to solidify his future with the club and to keep the six-time All-Star in “Wade County” forever:

A special interactive website, is the official Miami HEAT campaign headquarters and will be the hub of information for all things related to keeping D. Wade in South Florida. Fans can log on to to view video highlights, features, photo galleries, promotional information, download wallpapers and digital fan kits, plus much more. Fans can also send Tweets, leave email messages and upload YouTube videos expressing why they want Wade to stay in Miami. The We Want Wade Fan Kit has everything fans need to show their love and support for Wade. The Fan Kit will include window clings, an oversized placard, rubber wrist bracelet, stickers and more. To request an official Miami HEAT We Want Wade fan kit, visit the digital campaign headquarters online at Limit one Fan Kit per household. The Fan Kit is only available for Florida residents living in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties. Fans living outside these areas can visit to download a digital version of the We Want Wade Fan Kit.

  • We Want Wade Billboard/Advertising Campaign

D. Wade will feel the love on the streets of South Florida as the HEAT will have a mix of billboards and banners placed in numerous South Florida locations, starting with postings on I-95 in downtown Miami, on NW 36th Street and Biscayne Boulevard in Miami, the Rickenbacker Causeway flyover, and NW 79th Street in the North Bay Village area with messages encouraging Wade to re-sign with Miami.

  • Community Participation

What can you do to help keep D.Wade in Wade County? The HEAT welcomes community participation in the We Want Wade campaign. Local governments and municipalities are encouraged to consider making special proclamations recognizing Wade. Residential communities might consider tentatively re-naming streets or other landmarks after Wade. Local businesses can put their own We Want Wade messages on marquees. Media outlets can link up to the official campaign headquarters with their own efforts. The goal is to create an affirmative, positive campaign that allows the community to let Wade know that they want him to stay in Miami and what they are willing to do to make sure Wade “feels the love.”

  • We Want Wade Week – July 1-7

With the NBA free agency period beginning at 12:01 a.m. on July 1, the We Want Wade campaign will go into high gear, conducting activities targeted towards getting Wade to re-sign with the HEAT. Stay tuned to for news on activities taking place during We Want Wade Week. Free agents can officially sign agreements starting at 12:01 a.m. on July 8, 2010.
