MIAMI, July 28 – The Miami HEAT announced today that they have re-signed free agent forward Rasual Butler. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Butler, who was selected by the HEAT in the second round (53rd pick) of the 2002 NBA Draft, has appeared in 117 games (28 starts) in his two-year NBA career in Miami. He has averaged 7.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 18.7 minutes per game in that span, and closed out the 2003-04 season ranked eighth on the HEAT’s all-time list in three-point field goal percentage (.358). In Butler’s 28 career starts, he has averaged 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 29.8 minutes per game, while shooting 37.2 percent from the floor, 29.3 percent from three-point range and 78.6 percent from the free throw line. During the 2003-04 season, Butler appeared in 45 games for the HEAT, averaging 6.8 points and 1.4 rebounds in 15.0 minutes per game. He led the team in three-point field goal percentage (.463) and ranked fourth in three-point field goals made (50). His 46.3 percent accuracy from three-point range ranks second on the HEAT’s single-season list. He was also Miami’s top scorer off the bench 16 times and topped the reserves in blocks 11 times, in minutes eight times, in steals seven times, in assists on six occasions and in rebounds twice. Butler appeared in 10 playoff games for the HEAT in 2004, averaging 2.1 points and 1.1 rebounds in 5.8 minutes per game. |
