HEAT Announce 2012-13 Regular Season Schedule

MIAMI, July 26 – The defending NBA Champion Miami HEAT announced its 2012-13 regular season schedule today. The 82-game schedule consists of 41 home dates, all at AmericanAirlines Arena, and 41 road contests, and runs from October 30, 2012 through April 17, 2013. The HEAT will make 31 national television appearances, with Miami appearing 10 times on ESPN, 10 times on TNT, five times on ABC and six times on NBA TV. Sun Sports, which is slated to air a minimum of 70 HEAT game broadcasts locally, all in high definition, will release its local broadcast schedule at a later date.

Miami kicks off its 25th season when it hosts the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, October 30 at 8PM, in a nationally televised contest on TNT. The game will feature a ceremony in which the team receives their championship rings and raises the 2012 NBA Championship banner to the rafters of AmericanAirlines Arena. This marks the 17th time in franchise history that the team will open the season at home, and the second time it will face the Celtics on opening night. Miami plays its first road contest on Friday, November 2 at 8PM at New York.

The schedule features several exciting match-ups, including a Christmas Day home contest against NBA Finals opponent and the Western Conference Champion Oklahoma City Thunder on December 25 at 5:30PM. This marks the ninth time overall that Miami has played on Christmas Day, and the eighth time in the last nine years. The New York Knicks visit Miami twice, on December 6 (8PM) and April 2 (8PM), while the Boston Celtics make their second visit to Miami on April 12 (7:30PM). The Chicago Bulls will visit Miami on January 4 (7:30PM) and April 14 (1PM), while the Los Angeles Lakers will visit Miami on February 10 (3:30PM).

The HEAT’s longest homestand will be a six-game stretch from December 6-18. Miami’s longest road trips are two six-game excursions from November 9-17 and January 8-17. Additionally, the HEAT will play 16 back-to-backs.

Miami will have nine home games in December, and seven in the months of February and March. The month in which Miami plays the highest number of games is March, when the HEAT hits the hardwood 18 times. The month the HEAT is on the road the most is also March, with 11 games away from AmericanAirlines Arena.
