HEAT Activate Zhi-Zhi, Place Haslem on Injured List
MIAMI. Dec. 29 - Miami HEAT President Pat Riley announced this afternoon that the team has activated center Wang Zhi-Zhi from the injured list and placed forward Udonis Haslem on the injured list with a right knee sprain and a strained Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL).
Zhi-Zhi, who was signed as a free agent by Miami on Dec. 1, was placed on the injured list on Dec. 12 due to right knee patella tendinitis. The 7’1”, 284-pound center, appeared in two games this season with the Los Angeles Clippers and totaled four points and one block in nine minutes before being waived on Nov. 21. During his four-year career, Zhi-Zhi has appeared in 103 games and has averaged 5.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and 10.3 minutes. Haslem, a 6’8”, 230-pound rookie from the University of Florida, has appeared in each of Miami’s first 30 games this season and started the first 18 contests. He is averaging 6.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 24.4 minutes. Haslem, who injured the knee in Miami’s Dec. 27 contest against New York, currently ranks second on the team in offensive rebounds (57) and third in defensive rebounds (120) and total rebounds (177). Among rookies this season he ranks fifth in scoring average, sixth in field goal percentage (.432), eighth in minutes per game, 12th in scoring average and 20th in assists per game (0.8 apg). |
