Draft 2003: Q and A with Sani Ibrahim

Jun 12 2003 4:47PM

We noticed that you played with a lot of high schools over your career, what was the reason for switching around so much?

Ibrahim: “To try and play against all the best high school players in the States. That’s why I transferred from different high schools.”

You’re pretty new to the game…you haven’t played that long. When did you start playing basketball?

Ibrahim: “I started playing when I was 15…I used to play soccer…I played a goalie and a defender…I was growing tall, and a family friend advised me to start playing basketball.”

Hakeem Olajuwon one of your idols?

Ibrahim: “Well, growing up, he was the only guy from my country that to this day came and made a very big impact, so he’s my idol…I talked to him on the phone…He told me to keep on working hard, to do the best I can and keep working on my game.”
