Bosh Selected to Eastern Conference Shooting Stars Team
MIAMI, Feb 7 – The NBA has announced that HEAT All-Star Chris Bosh will represent the Eastern Conference in the 2013 Sears Shooting Stars competition as part of State Farm All-Star Saturday Night on February 16 at the Toyota Center in Houston. The all-inclusive skills showcase will be televised live on TNT at 8PM EST.
Bosh, an eight-time NBA All-Star, is shooting a career-high 54.6 percent from the field this season. He scored his 13,000th career point vs. Cleveland on November 24 and grabbed his 6,000th career rebound at Washington on December 4. He scored a season-high 40 points vs. Denver on November 13, his most as a member of the HEAT, and posted a 16-point, 16-rebound double-double at Boston on January 27, his 50th double-double since joining Miami. Among league leaders this season, he ranks 13th in field goal percentage, 24th in blocks (1.25), tied for 24th in scoring average (17.5) and 39th in rebounds (7.1).
Bosh will be joined on the East squad with current NBA player Brook Lopez, WNBA players Swin Cash and Tamika Catchings and NBA Legends Muggsy Bogues and Dominique Wilkins. The West team will feature NBA players James Harden and Russell Westbrook, WNBA players Maya Moore and Tina Thompson and NBA Legends Sam Cassell and Robery Horry.
The Sears Shooting Stars contest will feature one current NBA player, one current WNBA player and an NBA legend on each team, with two teams representing each conference. There are six numbered shooting locations of increasing difficulty, with each team attempting to make all shots in numeric order in the fastest time. Each team will select a specific player rotation to follow throughout the competition. Each shot must be made before the next player begins shooting in succession. Teams have up to two minutes to complete the entire shooting course.
