Dwyane Wade Named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

MIAMI, 3/29 – The NBA announced today that Miami HEAT guard Dwyane Wade was named the Eastern Conference Player of Week for games played March 22-28. This marks the 25th time in franchise history a HEAT player has earned Player of the Week honors and marks a franchise-record 12th time Wade has received the accolades, including the second time this season.
For the week, Wade averaged 25.3 points, 8.8 assists, 6.5 rebounds, 2.75 steals and 1.75 blocks. He shot 65.4 percent (34-of-52) from the field, 40.0 percent (2-of-5) from three-point range and 75.6 percent (31-of-41) from the foul line. He posted two double-doubles while recording at least 25 points in three of the four games and posted at least five rebounds and five assists in each contest. He led the team in scoring and assists in three games apiece, in steals twice and in blocks and minutes once, leading the HEAT to a perfect 4-0 record.
Wade posted game highs of 27 points and 12 assists against New Jersey on March 22 while totaling seven rebounds, two steals and one block on 9-of-13 shooting from the field. Despite sitting out the entire fourth quarter in Miami’s 29-point win at Chicago on March 25, he tallied 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field while dishing out a game-high 10 assists and grabbing five rebounds, blocking two shots and recording one steal. He then posted game highs in points (30), assists (seven) and steals (three) while adding seven rebounds and a block in a pivotal match-up at Milwaukee on March 26. He then recorded game highs with 32 points, five steals and three blocks while grabbing seven rebounds and handing out six assists against Toronto on March 28. Wade finished the week having recorded at least one steal in a season-high 15 consecutive games and blocking at least one shot in a season-high eight straight games, the third longest streak of his career.
Among league leaders this season, Wade ranks third in steals (1.90 spg), fifth in points (26.4 ppg), 10th in assists (6.7 apg), 30th in blocks (1.07 bpg) and tied for 30th in minutes (36.2 mpg).
