Game 7 Heartbreaker Miami held the lead after three quarters of play, but couldn't close it out in the final moments of Monday's 88-82 loss to Detroit in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Shaquille O'Neal posted a team-high 27 points to go with nine rebounds, and Dwyane Wade, who played with a rib strain, scored 20 for the HEAT, who enjoyed their best season since 1997 when they last reached the East finals.

HEAT Flame Out in Detroit Shaquille O'Neal played his best game of the series, but it wasn't enough to push Miami past the Pistons in its 91-66 Game 6 loss in Detroit on Saturday. O'Neal finished with 24 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks in 36 minutes of play. Starting for the injured Dwyane Wade, Rasual Butler scored 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting. With the series knotted at three, the teams return to Miami for Game 7 on Monday at 8 p.m. on TNT.

HEAT Push Pistons to Brink The HEAT built a 20-point lead in the third quarter and held on for an 88-76 win Thursday to take a 3-2 East finals lead despite losing Dwyane Wade to a rib injury. Shaquille O’Neal led five Miami players in double figures with 20 points and Udonis Haslem added 14 points and 13 rebounds. The Heat will try to clinch a spot in The Finals on Saturday in Detroit (TNT, 8 p.m. ET).

The shot put the HEAT up 97-95 after Washington used a 12-0 run to retake the lead. Alonzo Mourning then came up with a blocked shot to preserve the victory.

With All-Star center Shaquille O'Neal sidelined, nursing his bruised thigh, the HEAT turned to Alonzo Mourning and Udonis Haslem to play big inside. The pair responded marvelously, combining for 26 points and 25 rebounds.

Miami led by only two at the half before Wade scored 11 of his team-high 20 in the third as the Heat outscored Washington 33-17 in the period. Wade dished out seven assists and Shaquille O'Neal added 19 points and seven rebounds.

The HEAT had an 81-77 lead going into the fourth quarter, but could not hold off the 76ers down the stretch. Wade, who scored 15 of his points in the fourth quarter, also had 10 rebounds and six assists. Damon Jones added 18 points.

The HEAT took its first and only lead of the night after Damon Jones’ 3-pointer broke a 4-4 tie in the first, but the Grizzlies responded. Lorenzo Wright’s dunk at the 8:41 mark sparked a 13-0 run which gave Memphis a 10-point lead. The Grizzlies stretched the lead to 30 in the second quarter and the HEAT was unable to get any closer than 14 as Memphis cruised to the victory. |

HEAT Clinch Top Seed in East Shaquille O'Neal sat out Tuesday's game with a stomach virus, but that didn't prevent the HEAT from cruising to a 104-86 home win over the Bulls. Dwyane Wade picked up the slack by tying his career high with 39 points for Miami, which won its 18th straight at home. Udonis Haslem dominated the lane, scoring 16 and grabbing 15 boards for the HEAT, who led by as many as 34.

HEAT Avoid Sting from Hornets Shaquille O'Neal, Dwyane Wade and Damon Jones combined to score 89 points, as the HEAT defeated the Hornets, 111-99, in New Orleans. The HEAT out rebounded the Hornets, 39-25, and got 64 points in the paint, as Miami locked up at least a share of the Eastern Conference best record.
