2007-08 SEASON:

Full name is Daequan Lee Cook…answers to the nickname “Pooh” which was given to him by his grandmother when he was born because he reminded her of Winnie the Pooh…parents are Renae Cook and Fred Sneed…has two brothers (Tauyonne Cook and Wendall Cook) and a sister (Keishawn Cook)…has a daughter Ja’Kyia Cook…lists his uncle, Clifton Cook, who played college basketball at Texas A&M University, as the person who has made a difference in his life by pushing him in the right direction since day one…lists his family as his most prized possession…would like to pursue the goal of building his own clothing line when his basketball career is over…says something most people don’t know about him is that he is very funny and enjoys watching Ninja Turtles…in his free time he likes to go fishing and spend time with his grandparents…since joining the HEAT has been active in the Miami community, making a couple of visits to the HEAT Summer Basketball Camp and has also made several appearances at HEAT Learn to Swim events where he helped local kids learn to swim and stressed the importance of water safety, a skill that is very important to him because as a young child he almost drowned and had to be rescued by his mother jumping in a pool and saving him…his favorite sports other than basketball are tennis and golf…his favorite TV shows include The Wayans Bros., The Jamie Foxx Show and the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air…selected Love and Basketball and He Got Game as his favorite movies…says his favorite type of music is oldies and slow songs…hosted an NBA Draft Night party for friends and fans in his hometown of Dayton in 2007 with the proceeds going to help his AAU team, the Dayton Airmen…wore number 31 in college…averaged 25 points per game as a senior in high school while leading Dunbar High School to the Ohio Division II state title…was named the Outstanding Player on the 2006 Associated Press Division II All-Tournament team and the Division II Ohio Player of the Year…played for the West in the 2006 McDonald’s All-America game and scored 17 points in a 112-94 victory over the East squad…chose Italy as the best place he has visited and that trip marked his first time out of the United States…his favorite type of food is chicken and chose Smokin Bones as his favorite restaurant…has no special game-day routines other than listening to some music and eating a bag of Skittles…has six tattoos, one of a basketball rim, one with the names of his siblings, one of his mother’s name, one of his grandmother’s name, one of his daughter’s name and one of Jesus Christ…wears a size 13 shoe.
