Part 2Dec. 9, 2003 - Jan. 16, 2004: Part 2 Photogallery Wade began to blossom during the HEAT's second 20-game stretch, ripping off a stretch of six games from Dec. 14 through Dec. 23 that saw him average 25.2 points and lead the team in scoring in each game. That six-game streak included a pair of 30-point performances - 32 in a 97-79 win over Atlanta on Dec. 16 and a career-high 33 in a 104-93 win over Golden State on Dec. 21. Obviously more comfortable at the point guard position, Wade handed out eight assists in both of those games. Wade missed 9 of the HEAT's final 11 games during this stretch with a sprained right wrist, and the HEAT went just 3-6 without their budding star. In the 11 games he did play in, Wade averaged 19.6 points and 4.9 assists and led the HEAT in scoring seven times. The HEAT posted an 8-3 record in those 11 games. Wade's development in the second quarter of the regular season was vital to the HEAT, as the team went 11-9 to gain confidence and improve to 16-24 on the season. |
