April 21 The HEAT clinches its second postseason berth in three years by defeating the Atlanta Hawks, 94-89, at Miami Arena. Miami is the only one of the four new expansion teams to make the playoffs more than once.
April 28 Miami opens the 1994 NBA Playoffs by defeating the Atlanta Hawks, 93-88, at the Omni in Atlanta. It is the HEAT's first playoff win in franchise history.
May 3 The HEAT earns its first playoff home win with a 90-86 victory over the Hawks at Miami Arena.
June 2 Miami signs Head Coach Kevin Loughery to a multi-year contract extension.
June 29 The HEAT selects guard Khalid Reeves from the University of Arizona with the 12th pick in the NBA Draft. Miami also selects forward Jeff Webster from Oklahoma in the second round (40th overall).
August 4-14 HEAT guard Steve Smith is a member of the 1994 United States gold medal winning team at the World Championship of Basketball that is held in Toronto, Canada. HEAT Trainer Ron Culp is one of the trainers on the United States squad.

August 12 The Miami HEAT announces that Whit Hudson has purchased a partnership interest in the HEAT. Miami also announces that Billy Cunningham and Lewis Schaffel have sold their interests in the team.
