Oct 18 2007 10:33AM
Update: Game timeslots between 5:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. are no longer available. Please choose another time when you submit your forms.

To help celebrate their 20th Anniversary season, the Miami HEAT will be giving basketball fans the chance of a lifetime: to play a basketball game on the HEAT court at AmericanAirlines Arena! As part of the “20 Days of HEAT” promotional period leading up to the Opening Night game vs. the Detroit Pistons, the HEAT will stage the “20 Hours of HEAT Basketball Game” beginning Wednesday, October 24 at 6:00 am. The “game” will begin at 6:00 am on the 24th and continue for 20 consecutive hours, ending at 2:00 am on Thursday, October 25.

Each team will be guaranteed a specific amount of court time, assured to be no less than a :15 – :30 minute “game” (the game length will be based upon the final number of teams participating). Teams may sign up for more than one time slot. Teams will be assigned to
play for either the “Miami” team or the “HEAT”
team. The scoring will be a cumulative running
total of all the games played, resulting in one of
the highest scoring basketball games of all time.

There will be a running clock for the 20 hour time period and at the end of each allotted time period, two new teams will take the court to begin their time period. Adding to the fun nature of the event, there will be special point-value shot locations placed strategically on the court, providing for a higher point value than a normal two or three point shot. In addition, point values for made baskets will increase during certain :20 second time periods during each game segment.

The festivities surrounding the “20 Hours of HEAT Basketball Game” will include special appearances by Miami HEAT players, the Miami HEAT Dancers, Burnie, the HEAT Mascot and the HEAT Xtreme Team. In addition to the opportunity to play ball on the same court as D. Wade and Shaq, all participants will receive a free “20 Hours of HEAT Basketball Game” T-shirt, plus, one lucky team will win HEAT Season Tickets in Uptown for the 2007-08 season. Throughout the 20 hour competition, the HEAT will randomly give away free tickets to upcoming HEAT home games, HEAT gift cards, HEAT Fan Car Kits and much more. The complete list of fun stuff participants can win and activities taking place during the “20 Hours of HEAT Basketball Game” include:
