HEAT Dancer Blog: Balancing Act - Jeanelle

Being both a Miami HEAT Dancer and a pre-law undergraduate student hasn’t always been easy. I’ve danced for the Miami HEAT throughout my four years in college and more than anything else - it has taught me discipline. I recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, three minors in International Relations, Political Communication and Ethical Communication, along with a Pre-Law Certificate all from FIU! This last season I was not only a full-time student and team leader, I was also going through the tedious process of applying to law school. It took a lot of work, effort and perseverance but I’m thankful to say I will officially be studying law this fall at the University of Miami!

However, what made my accomplishments over the years the most rewarding was my ability to engage in my biggest passion - performing. The Miami HEAT has given me the opportunity to do what I love while achieving my life-long dream of being accepted into law school. Dedicating so much of my efforts to both matters has taught me how to manage my time effectively, as well as how to thrive in both my education and tenure with the Miami HEAT. To anyone who feels their dreams are bigger than themselves, push through! We are our only limits, and with the right efforts, we can push past limitations leaving us right at our greatest dreams.
