ED MAULL
ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT


Ed Maull begins his fifth season as a member of the HEAT organization and his fourth as Assistant to the President. In his current role, Maull assists President Pat Riley with the daily operations of the club and oversees all administrative areas of the Basketball Operations department, including the medical and athletic training services, team services, security, sports media relations and the charitable fund departments. Maull also serves as a liaison between all department heads within Basketball Operations and The HEAT Group.

A proven leader with a strong business background and acumen, Maull was a perfect fit when Riley decided to add a front office executive. Maull’s contributions and assistance have proven to be invaluable as the HEAT organization continues to operate on a championship level both on and off the court.

Along with Riley, Maull worked on the intricate design of the HEAT Championship Ring, and helped to develop its merchandising plan. He also worked closely with architects and general contractors to help implement Riley’s vision of HEAT Championship Alley.

Prior to his current role, Maull held the position of Director of Pro/Minor League Scouting after joining the club in September 2004. His primary responsibilities were to scout NBA personnel and other pro leagues, including the NBDL, CBA and ABA and various summer leagues. In that position he worked closely with Riley, evaluating potential prospects. He was also involved in the evaluation of collegiate prospects.

Maull, a native of Dayton, Ohio is a 1971 graduate of the University of Cincinnati where he played basketball under NBA veteran coach Lee Rose and Tay Baker. After graduation, Maull spent time with the NBA’s Cincinnati Royals. Maull then spent the next 33 years in business, holding management positions for the Kroger Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, Southland Financial of Dallas, Texas, and for 25 years as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Timco, an Atlanta based company. While living in Atlanta, Maull devoted much of his time to various charities, schools, churches and civic work. He also served on the Board of Advisers at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina.

Maull and his wife, Jill, reside in Coral Gables. They have two children, Molly and Teddy.
