BRIAN HECKER
SCOUTING INFORMATION COORDINATOR


Brian Hecker enters his sixth season with the HEAT and his first in the role of Scout. His duties include writing game plan reports, advanced scouting, handling the team’s defensive and effort charts during games, player development, statistical analysis and evaluating talent on the NBA and collegiate level. Hecker spent the previous five seasons as the HEAT’s Scouting Information Coordinator after joining the organization in November of 2003 where his responsibilities included coordinating all the scouting information gathered and reviewed by team scouts.

Prior to joining the HEAT, Hecker spent 11 seasons on the collegiate level; nine as an assistant coach at the University of Houston (2000-03) and the University of Wisconsin (1994-00) where he was a member of former HEAT coach Stan Van Gundy’s staff in 1994-95. Hecker began his collegiate coaching career as an administrative assistant on current NBA Sr. Vice President of Basketball Operations Stu Jackson’s staff at Wisconsin in 1992 and was promoted to assistant coach in 1994. During his 11 seasons on the collegiate level he helped guide his teams to seven postseason appearances (4-NCAA, 3-NIT), including the 2000 NCAA Final Four while an assistant with the Badgers.

A 1990 graduate of Indiana University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in sports marketing and management, Hecker began his coaching career as the freshman coach at his alma mater, Nicolet High School in Milwaukee, during the 1991-92 season before joining the Badgers.

The Milwaukee native has three children, Jessica, Benjamin and Thomas and resides in Miami.
