Entering his 14th year as Vice President, Sports Media Relations, Tim Donovan has seen his responsibilities expand each year and is charged with overseeing all aspects of the HEAT’s Sports Media Relations efforts. He also works closely with the marketing, social media, broadcasting and community affairs departments to help the organization create initiatives that maximize the team’s position as one of the most fan-friendly in the South Florida community. In addition, Donovan will continue to travel to all games with the HEAT as the primary media liaison as well as coordinating all media interviews for the massive amounts of media requests made each year.

Donovan originally joined the HEAT as Assistant Director of Public Relations in 1995 after spending more than seven years with the New York Knicks. In January of 1997 he was elevated to Director of Sports Media Relations, a position he held for three and a half years before being promoted to his current position.

Donovan got his start in sports media relations in 1987, as an intern with the Knicks. He received a full-time position during New York’s 1989 postseason and was named Public Relations Assistant in October of that year. By May of 1991, Donovan was Manager of Media Relations, serving as the chief liaison between the team and the New York area media.

A graduate of Rutgers University, Donovan lettered for four years on the Scarlet Knights’ lacrosse team and helped lead the team to a number six national ranking as a senior.
