A seasoned executive in the information technology business, Tony Coba joined The Miami HEAT organization in March 2001 as Vice President and Chief Information Officer and was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer in January 2006. As the person responsible to design and implement The HEAT Group's technical strategic vision, Coba brings years of experience to the job overseeing the integration of today’s ever-changing technology into every aspect of the organization.

Under Coba’s leadership, The HEAT Group’s information technology department was recently honored with a 2010 CIO100 Award for their creation of the DigiTix system “All You Can HEAT™” interactive ticket sales platform. CIO magazine’s CIO100 Award is given to organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology through innovative practices and products. In addition, The HEAT Group earned CIO magazine’s annual CIO100 Plus-One Award in the Financial Benefit category, a special distinction bestowed to only one of five CIO100 Award recipients who demonstrated outstanding achievement toward a specific business goal. The HEAT Group is the first and only professional sports team in the world to have won these prestigious awards. Coba was also a guest speaker at the 2010 CIO100 Awards, a panelist at the 2010 World Congress of Sports convention and has recently been appointed as a first year member of the Juniper Networks Executive Advisory Council.

In addition to his responsibility for the entire systems infrastructure including network security, ticketing systems, Intranets, team video editing systems, wireless communications, point-of-sale systems, cellular sites, HR, payroll and finance systems, bank ATMs, CRM, and application design, development and integration, Coba and his team oversee the telecommunication system that services AmericanAirlines Arena and The Miami HEAT, television and radio broadcasters, print media, photographers, concerts and special events. Adding to the mix, Coba is responsible for planning and implementing future technology projects to keep AmericanAirlines Arena on the cutting edge of the sports and entertainment business.

Prior to joining The HEAT Group, Coba served over nine years as Director of Technology Operations at Knight Ridder where he was responsible for all facets of corporate technology for 32 newspapers and data center operations in Miami, Fl., Columbia, SC., Livonia, MI., and San Jose, CA. Prior to that, Coba, a licensed General Contractor, spent eight years running a custom residential development firm.

A native of Chicago, IL, Coba is actively involved with various community service organizations and served as a board member of the Miami-Dade Community College Business Advisory Council/MEED Program in South Florida. In addition to serving as co-chair of the United Way of South Florida, he has been nominated for several community service awards, including the Alvah H. Chapman Award and the InRoads Supervisor of the Year Award. Coba lives in Miami with his wife Adriana and daughter Lauren.
