Miami HEAT Redistributes Unserved Food Through Re-HEAT Program
The 2013-14 season is the sixth year of the Re-HEAT Program, where unserved food from all Miami HEAT home games is redistributed to local homeless assistance programs. Through the assistance of this year's presenting partner, AARP Foundation’s Drive to End Hunger, through its work on Drive to End Hunger and supporting partner, Levy Cares more than 30,000 pounds of food to date have been distributed to Re-HEAT beneficiaries, the Miami Rescue Mission and the Chapman Partnership.
On January 26th, following the San Antonio Spurs vs Miami HEAT home game, HEAT players Michael Beasley and Roger Mason, Jr. visited the Chapman Partnership facility to deliver food and meals to the 500+ residents of the facility. Players helped serve meals alongside Miami-Dade County Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson, AARP Florida Executive Council Member, Horacio Soberon-Ferrer and AARP Miami-Dade Field Coordinator, Margie Lee. HEAT mascot Burnie was also in attendance.
