WATER SAFETY RULES:
1. Be cool, follow the rules.
2. Always swim in a supervised area.
3. Never swim alone.
4. Always supervise children in, on or around any water source.
5. Look before you leap. Pick safe places to swim and dive. Learn the correct way to dive, and know when it is safe to dive. Be aware of the depth and water conditions where you swim.
6. Think so you don’t sink. Know what to do when things go wrong such as cramps.
7. Reach or throw, don’t go – there are numerous ways to rescue a swimmer in trouble. You can reach for the person or throw something to keep them afloat such as a lifesaver, but don’t go in the water after anybody. Don’t attempt a water rescue unless you’ve had training to do so.
8. Know your limitations when swimming. Don't try to swim beyond your ability.
9. Always wear an approved life jacket when boating.
10. Never drink alcohol while participating in any water activities.
