With beaches, pools, lakes, and canals surrounding us, living in South Florida can be lots of fun, but it can also be a dangerous place. Drowning ranks #1 in fatalities among children under the age of five in Florida. The Miami HEAT and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida have teamed up to lead our summer long water safety campaign – HEAT Learn to Swim.
This year we are looking to create an event greater splash in our community. Just as the HEAT team’s mission on-the-court is to strive for a championship, the Miami HEAT’s off-the-court mission this summer is to make a noticeable impact in water safety via numerous efforts:
