HEAT to Host Youth Basketball Clinic

Dorell Wright MIAMI, February 22 – The Miami HEAT has teamed up with Gatorade and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida to host a HEAT Youth Basketball Clinic on Thursday, February 23, from 4:30-6:00 pm at the Miami Rescue Mission Community Activity Center. The clinic will be conducted by HEAT Community Affairs Liaison Wali Jones, with special appearances from HEAT players Dorell Wright and Gerald Fitch.

As part of the HEAT Youth Basketball program, comprised of various youth recreational basketball leagues in South Florida, each league participant receives a free jersey and a membership card which provides a discount at Miami Hoops Gear, the official HEAT store. Select league members are also afforded the opportunity to gain excellent on and off-court basketball training and instruction from HEAT players and coaches at special basketball clinics.

Performances by Burnie and the Xtreme Team will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed immediately by the clinic at 5:00 pm A Q&A session with HEAT personnel will follow after the clinic.

This HEAT Youth Basketball Clinic represents the latest activity from the HEAT under the “NBA Cares” initiative introduced earlier this season.
