Approximately 150 children, ages 6-17 of local military families, were in attendance to participate in this clinic, held at the U.S Army Garrison-Miami Fitness Center. All the participants left with a free HEAT gift bag that was distributed by the HEAT Xtreme team, along with HEAT players Roger Mason Jr. and Udonis Haslem, HEAT assistant coach Dan Craig, and HEAT legends Pat Riley, Tim Hardaway, and Alonzo Mourning.
"We're here today just to say thank you; to really thank them for their service and time, and let their kids know that they're special, they're really special." said HEAT President Pat Riley.
“There's been so many sacrifices made for us to be here today, and for us to be able to live the lives that we live and do the things that we do. I definitely understand, so it's a blessing ... the least I can do is come out here and give a little of my time, put a smile on these kids' faces." said HEAT Forward Udonis Haslem.
By hosting this clinic at SOUTHCOM on Veterans Day, the HEAT continued their existing tradition of honoring the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces. In addition, the HEAT also partnered with GovX, the leading website dedicated to providing those who protect and serve our country and communities with exclusive, significant savings on sports and event ticketing and thousands of premium products. GovX donated HEAT tickets to this deserving group which include active, reserve, veteran and retired US. Military personnel, and as well as first responders.
