HEAT Beach Sweep at Virginia Key Beach

On Thursday, January 30th, representatives from the Miami HEAT, including HEAT legend, Alonzo Mourning, the Miami HEAT Dancers, HEAT mascot Burnie, HEAT staffers, and volunteers from presenting sponsors PricewaterhouseCoopers and Big Brothers Big Sisters, as well as staffers from Florida International University led HEAT Beach Sweep, an annual effort to preserve South Florida's environment. The event was hosted at the historic Virginia Key Beach in Key Biscayne and it was in advance of NBA Green Week 2014, which will take place from April 3rd through April 10th. NBA Green Week leverages the combined weight of the league, teams, players and partners to generate awareness and raise funds in support of environmental protection. The event commenced with a press conference hosted by HEAT public address announcer, Michael Baiamonte, followed by the various HEAT Beach Sweep duties.
