HEAT Head Coach Pat Riley

On the game:
“In the second half we played extremely hard. I mean extremely hard. Basically because of that, you didn’t have to be as efficient. If you’re playing hard sometimes you can make mistakes and still end up with possessions. But defensively, we played extremely hard. We did a good job keeping them to one shot. Guys were making plays and that was big for us tonight. Earl (Barron) made some big shots. Daequan (Cook) coming in at the end and making two shots after he sat for a long time was big. It was just a good win for us. We just go from here.”

On scoring twelve in a row:
“We started the third quarter like we typically do. We weren’t ready. We weren’t talking. They scored five straight points and we were down nine. We take a 20 [second timeout] and once we got it back to 59–54 , he (Jim Boylan) took a time out and we just kept playing, kept playing, kept playing. We played extremely well. We didn’t turn it over. We got good shots. We got a good win. They’re happy. They’re working hard.”

"On the Heat’s effort:"

“Tonight we made a lot of good plays. We didn’t just make jumpers, but we got some lay-ups and took the ball to the basket. Quinny (Chris Quinn) did a great job of controlling our pick-and-roll game. It’s a nice “W” for us.” “It becomes a normal thing. I don’t have to talk about it. We got in such a habit of playing with talent only and thinking that talent was going to take care of the lack of effort. These guys are just unadulterated. They are playing hard and it’s actually become pretty contagious with some of the veterans. Effort is a big part of what our culture is and we would like to get it back on a permanent basis.”

HEAT Forward Ricky Davis

On the game:
“Guys were just out there, playing together, playing with passion and we got the win.” “We are playing free. It looks different and feels different.” “It’s always great to be a spoiler. They spoiled these guys here last year, so it is always good to pay a favor back to somebody.”

HEAT Guard Chris Quinn

On the game:
“We haven’t had as many wins this year as we would have liked. Anytime you’re out there playing the game and having success and winning, it’s a lot of fun.” “It’s just good to get any win.”

On getting Pat Riley a win after his induction to the Hall of Fame:
“It’s great for us to be able to get a win for him. Obviously, it was a great day for him yesterday. For him to get a win today hopefully adds a little something to that.”

HEAT Forward Kasib Powell

On the game:
“I didn’t know how much I was going to play today. Anytime I go out there, I want to be full of energy and bring a boost up. I think things worked out for me today.” “We know it’s only four more games now, so we just want to get some wins. We want to finish the year with some wins.” “It was fun to win the game, with the crowd behind us, and everybody playing well. It just felt good to be out there.”

Chicago Bulls Head Coach Jim Boylan

On the Game:
“Like I said before the game, you cannot walk out on an NBA court, I don’t care who you are playing against, and not bring a complete effort. Those guys that we played against, especially in the second half, were playing for something. They are playing to impress some people. Some of those guys did. They were playing with a lot more energy than we had, and they had a lot more desire. Their will to win was a lot stronger than ours.”

On the second half:
“I thought we started to not find the open man the way we had been. It seemed like our shot selections became a little questionable at times. We just did not continue to play the way we had been playing. That was disappointing.”

Bulls Guard Kirk Hinrich

On the game:
“They played better than us, it just seemed like we came out and kind of had our way to start out the first half, and we just kind of let up a little bit on the intensity defensively. It was a tough one to swallow.” “I think we need to become a better defensive team. I think the better teams in the league that usually compete for the NBA championship ring are almost always the better defensive teams in the league. I think we need to do that. I think we’ve kind of lost our identity to what got us here, so whatever happens, we just have to find a way to get back what we had. We kind of lost our edge.”

Bulls Guard Ben Gordon

On the game:
“This is my first year going through so many changes, new coaches, new players and things like that. I really don’t know what the first step is to getting back to where we were last season.” “I was shocked pretty much the entire season, so now I’m just kind of getting numb to it. It’s just disappointing, every game we drop.” “They just wanted it more. That’s what it seemed like. They played a lot harder, they played together as a team and they did what they needed to do to get the ‘W.’ A lot of these guys are playing and just trying to stay in the NBA. So they definitely had a higher level of intensity than we showed tonight.”

Bulls Forward Luol Deng

On the game:
“We just came out and walked through the motions. I don’t think we really played to win. The intensity wasn’t there. We just played and we were just playing a team that hasn’t done so well and we haven’t done well, and they came out and played and we basically did what we’ve been doing.”
