HEAT Head Coach Pat Riley

On Miami Rookies:
They're all playing hard. They have their moments up and down. It's hard to evaluate them all out on the court at the same time unless you put them out there with your better players. You're asking certain guys to do things that they wouldn't do in a normal NBA game. There are a couple of things Blake (Ahearn) did through the course of the game that I liked. Stephane (Lasme) and Joel (Anthony) are working at it.”

“They're playing a lot. I think they're all going for it. I don't think they're afraid of the competition. They got an opportunity. They probably didn't expect for this to happen like it has happened.”

On the game:
“We just didn't have enough firepower in the second half. We kept defending hard but we just couldn't make a basket. We shot 25 percent in the second half. We just could not make a basket.”

HEAT Guard Chris Quinn

On giving themselves a chance to win:
“Obviously the Pistons are a good team, one of the best in the league. We put ourselves in the position where if we made a run down the stretch we could win the game. They turned it up a notch and we weren't able to respond.”

On the rest of the season:
“Us guys that are out there playing, we have a lot of pride. Only thing that we can do is to play as hard as possible. Obviously we only have 10 or 11 games left; the only thing we can do is leave it out there.”

On second half offense:
“They play very good defense. I think that's why they're one of the best teams in the league. Defense is very important. We were on a back-to-back and we had a lot of guys out there. There's no excuse. Detroit is a very good defensive team and they made plays against us.”

Pistons Head Coach Flip Saunders

On the game:
“I think number one is they (Miami) came out and made a ton of shots, 10 for 13, and to make some of those shots even when no one is guarding you. As I told our guys, they're going to come out, they're going to play hard and they're going to play loose. They have nothing to lose and they're going out and they're trying to prove some things, to either earn a roster spot or secure things for next year. I guess the biggest thing was that we actually shot the ball pretty well early. I thought we kept them in the game with our turnovers, we had some really unforced turnovers, and they scored off almost every one of our turnovers, which I think really hurt us. We hung in there, we ground it out. I thought Arron (Afflalo) had a great game, gave us great energy, made big plays, made shots, made free-throws. We executed down the stretch. Anytime you can hold a team, I don't care who it is, you can hold them at 24 points in the second half you’re going to have opportunities to win.”

On distributing minutes:
“I told our guys before the game, as a coach I respect what all you guys have done coming to practice and how hard you play when you get on the floor, and you're trying to play the right way and do the right thing. I said as a coach I wish I could play all you guys 30 minutes. The toughest thing is when you have players that give everything they have, are extremely coachable, have the same passion that you have to win and win championships, and you share those things, and sometimes you can't give them maybe the minutes they really deserve.”

Pistons Guard Arron Afflalo

On starting:
“It’s good to get out there and get in the flow with my teammates and just playing poised and be a defensive presence out there and try to take care of my offensive opportunities. It feels good; I definitely appreciate it. I'm trying to gain a little confidence but obviously we need Rip (Richard Hamilton) back in that lineup. We need to be at full strength.”

On the game:
“We didn't get off to a good start like we should have. We should have attacked the post a little more but we made some adjustments in the locker room and had a better second half.”

On what to focus on for the playoffs:
“That's just it, we need to focus and have that mental toughness to really buckle down and start preparing for the playoffs. We need to get healthy and make a good run at it.”

Pistons Forward Tayshaun Prince

On the game:
“I think to start the game they (Miami) came out great. They made shots; their bigs stepped up and made jumpers. If that’s one way that a team beats you it has to be off jump shots. They made their shots early in the game and that’s how we got behind. We just knew that it was going to be a matter of our bench to get us back into the flow. It was going to take someone off the bench to make a spark. In these types of games, you try to battle through it and find a way and defensively we found a way.”

On injuries:
“Our main goal right now is really to get our guys healthy. We have guys that are playing that are banged up and we have guys that are not playing because they're not healthy enough. We need to get back strong as soon as possible, so we can finish the regular season strong enough. You know, go in with the momentum into the playoffs.”
