HEAT Head Coach Pat Riley

On Othe loss:
“I thought our guys played hard. There were three or four plays where we cut it to five or four but they kept getting enough separation where we were going to have to make some stops. We just couldn’t make enough stops. In the second half I said we needed to hold them in the 40’s, which we did, but we just didn’t score enough. That’s the way it is. We didn’t make enough offensive plays when we had to make them.”

On the decision to start Luke Jackson:
“I thought he played well last night and I thought he played well again tonight too. I wanted to bring Daequan (Cook) off the bench at the two. We had to rotate Ricky (Davis). We basically had only two big guys since Alex (Johnson) went down. But I thought Luke played well tonight.”

On Alexander Johnson not being available in the second half:
“He did something to his foot on the last play of the first half. He went in and came back out but I decided not to play him.”

On the starting five scoring in double figures:
“It was ball movement. They were getting off the ball and it wasn’t sticking. Last night it never left anybody’s hand. It was terrible. We were 3-22 in the first half and I bet you every shot we took was forced to some extent. But tonight the ball was moving, we were driving, we were kicking and they were creating some good opportunities and when it’s like that guys are going to make some good shots.”

On experimenting with the lineup:
“I approach it just like I coach any other game. When you’re really short handed, like we are, you try and keep it simpler. We’re playing guys out of position, from that stand point, but I do want to take a look at some guys that have not played well or looked good in their limited minutes like last night. But tonight they did.”

HEAT Guard Chris Quinn

On the loss:
“It hurts when you don’t have all your players, but at the same time we have to step up and make plays. We have all been in a lot of basketball games and we know how to compete and play the game.”

On Hedo Turkoglu:
“He (Turkoglu) is a tough player. He makes tough shots and some of those shots that he is hitting like fadeaways…there is not much defense you can do. He is obviously having a great year and really recently has been stepping up.”

“I thought we did a good job and didn’t make too many mistakes. We moved the ball fairly well on the offensive end and just couldn’t get enough stops.”

HEAT Forward Dorell Wright

On the loss:
“We brought a real good effort even by having a lot of guys out. We played small ball and did a good job bringing the effort and playing good defense. The next time we just have to finish it out for the whole 48 minutes.”

“It is real tough because some guys are playing out of position. You still need to find a way and there shouldn’t be any excuses.”

“We look at it (being short-handed) as opportunity to still go out there to despite having people out, we were trying to get a win. I think we fought real hard tonight. We were almost there. That fourth quarter slipped away from us. We played with a real good effort. We took care of the ball. Guys shared the ball real well. We played a good game.”

“Guys want to go out there and win. We know we are short handed so we just want to go out there and be aggressive. We wanted to show that even with our main two players and our best defensive player in Udonis being out, we were not going to come in here and lay down.”

Orlando Magic Head Coach Stan Van Gundy

On the Game:
”Glad to have that win, scary game. I was wondering how our guys would come. I thought Miami played really well. (We) shot it well early, really took care of the ball. (They had) only five turnovers, kept them in the game until fourth quarter. I thought our guys clamped down finally in the fourth quarter. I thought we clamped down defensively and had some good possessions. We did a good job on the boards all night long, that was a key part of it. I wasn’t really happy with our defense the first three quarters, was not happy with the turnovers again. When we let people sort of come back, not that they came all the way back, but they got back into it a little, turnovers are always a factor. And we’re capable, as we’ve shown against good defensive teams, at taking care of the ball, but we get careless. We’ve got to work on that. Glad to have the win. Good win. We move on to a couple more road games. It seems like we haven’t been out there in forever. It’s been like six days, five days. It’ll be good to be back on the road.”

On why the starters played most of game
“I say this to people all the time, because the fans, you guys, everybody else, even assistant coaches sometimes, always think the games over. The game’s over, it’s in hand. Sit in the head coach's seat and that whole perspective changes. It never seems like it’s over to me. We’re up 18 with 2:02 and I’m saying a couple 3’s and this thing…that’s just the way I think. To be honest I wasn’t really comfortable with the game at the four minute mark, four and a half minute mark, and when you get below four minutes, I don’t want to be throwing guys in very often with 2:25, 2:20 to go, I don’t think that’s fair to them. I’d just as soon have them finish it out. At the four minute mark I still wasn’t really comfortable, even though we defended in the fourth the way we defended most of the night, it left me a little bit uncomfortable.”

Magic Guard Keyon Dooling

On the game:
“For our team, in our grand scheme of things, whoever you got out there, we’re all professional basketball players. It’s not who is on the back of the jersey, it’s all on the front of the jersey.”

On absence of Miami’s premiere players:
“It’s not at all disappointing. We like wins, what’s to be disappointed about a win?” “Obviously when you have their three best players out, the first thing that everybody thinks is that there’s going to be slippage on our part. But we’re not good enough for slippage. (If) we don’t come out prepared to play, we can lose on any given night. We’ve lost to teams under .500. So in this league, you have to be prepared to play every night. No matter who is playing.”

Magic Forward Hedo Turkoglu

On the possibility of being named an All-Star:
“If I have it, great. If I don’t, so much goes on. It would be good to see where I need to prove myself, (to see) whether I’m at that level or do I still have to go to work. So hopefully I hear the good news but if I don’t there’s a lot to go on. I hope to keep playing like I did tonight. Just to do my best for the team, to get a ‘w.’”

On the win:
“If you look at it, they didn’t have their main guys out there. We all knew that it was going to be tough; they’ve got nothing to lose. They just got to go out there and prove themselves. They’re NBA players who want a chance to go out there and show what they can do. I think we did OK. It took three quarters, (but) in the fourth quarter, we closed the deal.”
