April 8th, 2007 | AmericanAirlines Arena | Miami HEAT - 103 | Charlotte Bobcats- 111

HEAT Head Coach Pat Riley

On the game:
“It amazes me; it was one of those games that we didn’t bring it. We just didn’t bring it defensively. I thought Charlotte played extremely well. They played hard. They played extremely well. We didn’t defend well enough. At the start of the third quarter we were just atrocious. It was just an atrocious effort. We got down 15 or 16 points, and we had to scramble. We scrambled and kept scrambling until we tied it. We had a chance to win it at the end, but we didn’t. When you don’t play as hard as you can play, and you make 26 turnovers, and the other team is shooting over 50 percent, you’re going to have a real difficult time. Plus when you miss 18 free throws, I don’t know how you can win. Somehow we’re always in games despite a lot of these issues.”

On Dwyane Wade’s minutes:
“I talked to him. I thought we had his minutes going pretty good. Probably about 20 minutes is what we talked about. But then again, it’s a big game. He said he felt pretty good.”

On Dwyane Wade’s play:
“He’s one of the most courageous players in the league. He has been ever since he has come in. He’s a fearless player. He’s done everything he can do to test his shoulder. Today he came to me and said ‘I want to play today. It’s time for me to get back out there’. I think it’s good, because we find out over the next couple of days how he responds to it. Then we can go from there.”

“I thought he played extremely well to be honest with you. He made some turnovers because guys aren’t used to it. Dwyane always does everything he can do to win. We just didn’t make enough plays when we got it into overtime. They shot 85 percent in overtime.”

HEAT Guard/Forward James Posey

On the game:
“It was their (Charlotte Bobcats) energy. You have to give them credit. They fed off one another, and we couldn’t stop them. They made plays when they needed to. We just didn’t play well tonight. We just have to regroup and get ready to play them on Tuesday.”

On having Dwyane Wade back:
“It was great to have him back. We have to get him back in the flow of things. We have to do a good job of helping him out.”

HEAT Forward/Guard Jason Kapono

On the game:
“It’s disappointing. We have to come out and play hard every night, especially at this time of the year where we’re fighting for playoffs seeds. To let a game slip away here at home is frustrating.”

“We are going to the playoffs, and we have something to play for. They’re coming in and playing their best game, while we are not playing as hard.”

On having Dwyane Wade back:
“It will take time for Dwyane to get back in the flow of it.”

“He’s been out for two months. It’s takes a little time to get used to being back on the court.”

HEAT Guard Eddie Jones

On having Dwyane Wade back:
“We’re ecstatic about having him back. I think he’s just trying to get his rhythm back. I think that’s what he’s fighting, and also getting into better conditioning. He’s going to the basket with reckless abandonment. He doesn’t even look like he’s worried about his shoulder.”

HEAT Guard Dwyane Wade

On his first game back following the shoulder injury:
“I’m not going to shy away from contact. That’s my game. I kind of like contact. I’m not going to be stupid. I wouldn’t have shot-faked like that on my left side. I knew it was on my strong side, my right side. Getting that first hit by Jake (Voskuhl); when I went to the hole, it felt good. I was like, ‘That’s out the way.’ Everybody was talking about I need that first hit. That was out of the way early, and I could concentrate on trying to get to focus on the game.”

“That’s why (I came back tonight). Everybody was saying ‘Wednesday, Wednesday.’ So I said, ‘Alright, Sunday.’ No one knew. A lot of people are going to be mad at me for not letting them no, but that’s me, It was resurrection day. I came out to play. I also wanted to get a lot of games under my belt, to get my rhythm back and get in a grove with what the team is doing. Coming in today was a good start.”

“I was a little worried at first, but once I took my first hit, I wasn’t worried anymore. I was trying to get my conditioning more than anything. My shoulder felt good. I still didn’t do a lot of things that I normally do.”

“I was excited to get back. There were a lot of turnovers tonight and I missed a lot of free throws, but one thing about me that you don’t have to worry about (me doing) that too often.”

“I’m just going to come in everyday and continue with my rehab, continue to do my therapy, continue to do my conditioning so I can come back to being as close as I can be to last year during the playoffs. It Coach’s call. We have a very deep team.”

Bobcats Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff

On the game:
“We didn’t feel sorry for ourselves. Walter (Herrmann) hit some big shots. We had 20 steals tonight so our deflections were really, really good. We just laced up our shoe-strings in overtime. We didn’t feel sorry for ourselves and we made some big shots.”

On the final moments of regulation:
“At the end of regulation we didn’t get a shot. We let the clock expire. We waited too late to come up and set the screen, which congested everything and we ended up playing in a crowd. We had two point guards dealing with that. They’re supposed to know time and score all of the time.”

On the performance of Walter Herrmann:
“He hit big shots and they got him the ball. Against Indiana, we didn’t make the second and third pass and I think that was on his mind.”

Bobcats Guard Jake Voskuhl

On the game:
“We just struggled with that Dwyane Wade mid screen-and-roll because he’s one of the hardest guys to trap. It’s a tough cover. When they need a bucket they just went to that pick-and-roll with Dwyane.”

“It was just one of those games where we were able to persevere as a team. In overtime Walter (Herrmann) was able to hit those two big shots at the end of the game and just kind of sealed it.”

On the end of regulation:
“I think it can be easy to get caught up on the call at the end and let that take the wind out of your sails. As a team we did not do that. We just kind of rallied and continued to make shots and get baskets. Walter hit those two big shots at the end, but [we played] scrappy. It wasn’t like one guy going, it was a scrappy effort by the team.”

Bobcats Forward Walter Herrmann

On the game:
“I am getting a lot more confident with my minutes being increased. I am feeling very comfortable in the system. I am just playing basketball and just enjoying it. I felt like it was a tremendous basketball game throughout regulation. [The ball] just did not bounce our way. Mentally we came into the overtime with confidence and felt we could win. I felt we came with 100 percent concentration to win in overtime.”
