HEAT Head Coach Pat Riley

On getting blown out:
I coached an absolutely awful game; terrible game plan, pick and roll schemes; everything. I am not going to take full responsibility. It was a total breakdown.

On his team not appearing to have a sense of urgency:
That sense of urgency is a Dallas Mavericks team, San Antonio Spurs or Detroit Pistons or any good team. We have been up and down with that all season long.

HEAT Center Shaquille O'Neal

On if this shakes the team's confidence:
This isn't going to shake our confidence; it is just a little old fashioned Texas beat down. They were three steps ahead of us, they had more energy. We just have to pick it up, especially against the top teams.

On the Heat's defensive game plan:
They shot the ball very well. We were trying to keep the paint closed. They had a lot of good drivers out there and they are a very unselfish team. They were just draw-kicking us and they shot very well, especially from behind the arc.

Dallas Mavericks Head Coach Avery Johnson

On the Game:
This was a solid performance by the Mavs. We came out with a lot of focus and had good carryover from practice yesterday. We came out and tried to make it as difficult as possible on them, tried to get back in transition, we wanted to be aggressive on the offensive end and tried to get as many points in the paint as we could. They outscored us in the paint 26-22 at the half and we wanted to come back in the second half and try to get some more points in the paint and stop them.

Wade got hot on us there in the third quarter and we had a hard time guarding him. Shaq is a handful. He finished with 23 points. We felt we tried to get some steals, blocks and turnovers in there.

Overall it was a good team effort and we were fortunate enough to be able to rest some guys in the fourth quarter.

On how Damp and Diop battled Shaq inside:
I thought they battled. Those guys slipped around and got some steals. They gave him different looks. We double-teamed him some and sometimes we couldn’t get there. We just tried to make it work and that’s all you can do, but you can see he is still a dominant player.

On being a thorough game:
I thought we played longer stretches than we’ve ever played. We didn’t play a flawless game, but I’m not going to nitpick. We have some things to work on because of where we are trying to go. The guys are doing a lot of positive things on the court.

Mavericks Guard Jason Terry

On the game:
I think everybody believes in our system and we’ve just got to continue to work. There’s still a long way to go, but I like the way we’re playing. Tonight we were good on both sides of the ball. It was on overall great win for us. We’re sharing the ball and playing together. Defensively, look what Dampier’s doing off the bench. He’s clogging up the middle and Diop’s playing well in the middle also. We’ve just go to keep it going.

Talk about the teams 33 points off of the Heat’s 19 turnovers?
We’re very active on defense right now. We’re getting our hands on a lot of balls as you saw tonight, and we’re all getting in the passing lanes and we had very active hands tonight. It lead to a lot of easy baskets for us tonight.

Talk about how well the bench has been playing?
We have tremendous talent coming in off that bench. Guys have accepted their roles and they’re just coming out and playing hard and aggressive.

Mavericks Guard Jerry Stackhouse

You guys lead from start to finish tonight:
We were really focused tonight. Even after the game we were all business-like. We did what we set out to do tonight and now we’re just trying to move forward.

We had a good number of pick-n-rolls in the first half and we decided to continue to do that in the second half. We penetrated their defense very well tonight and then kicked it out for open three’s, and guys were just knocking down shots tonight.

Talk about the team points off turnovers tonight?
Whenever we get the ball in transition, we usually have success and we’ve got guys that can finish and convert in open court. In bodes well for us when we get turnovers. We’re always looking to make that long pass and put pressure on the defense to get back.
