HEAT Head Coach Pat Riley

On low percentage three-point shooting…:
“I thought we gave a good effort. Certainly I liked the energy we had at the start of the game, but they wore us down a little bit. We relied on the three-point shooting, but that wasn’t there tonight. Obviously that had an effect on the outcome. It’s part of what we do and they didn’t fall tonight.”

On shot selection…
“When we got down twelve to fifteen and tried to get back. The third quarter and midway through the fourth, we were trying to get shots through the flow. Michael [Redd] had some good looks. Towards the end of the fourth when we were a little more desperate it might not have been the same.”

On late-game momentum…
“It wasn’t like in other games. With four or five minutes to go we cut it to seven or eight. At that point I felt we did have some momentum, but they made a couple of plays and we didn’t finish a couple of plays. We relied on our shooting, but they didn’t drop like they normally do, yet with five minutes to go I felt we still had a chance.”

On key injuries…
“I’ve always felt part of strength is our depth. Jiri [Welsch] - I thought he played really well as a starter. Part of our strength is our bench. We’ve had a number of games where the starters are doing their job and the bench comes in and provides a spark. We didn’t have that spark off the bench I guess.”

Bucks Center Jamaal Magloire

On Shaq’s return…
“Shaq was good. He’s the most dominant player in the NBA. He just draws so much attention that he makes the game easy for his teammates. That’s what beat us tonight - the other guys around him. Shaq commands so much attention that other guys are able to get involved in the game and really do their work.”

On the frontcourt’s low scoring performance…
“Offensively, Andrew [Bogut] and I just weren’t able to score more points. We would have been able to make the game closer, but those things happen throughout the season. We’ve just got to look forward to the next game.”

On key injuries…
“We fought hard until the last portion of the game. We don’t know when they’re [Mo Williams and Bobby Simmons] going to come back, so we’re expected to go to Boston and play as if they were there and try to get a win up there.”

Bucks Guard Michael Redd

On low percentage three-point shooting…
“We just struggled. We had wide open looks, but this just wasn’t our night to hit them. They guarded, but they didn’t guard tight. It was more so us missing wide open shots. We just never got into rhythm from the three point line, but, once again, we try not to live by that, because you’ll die by that.”

On key injuries…
“We took it upon our shoulders. Jiri [Welsch] played well tonight, even though he hasn’t really been playing a whole-whole lot of minutes. He played a lot himself. He came in like a veteran - give him credit. [Miami] knew we were a bit undermanned and they came in and played well. They just kept hitting big shots and we couldn’t hit shots.
