HEAT Head Coach Stan Van Gundy

On the disappointment of tonight’s game:
“We came out with a great focus to start the game and I thought the first half was the best that we have played in a month and a half. With the game on the line we went back to all the bad habits… forcing shots… too many turnovers. We have no chance to win with this many turnovers. We have too many guys turning the ball over."

On not going to the basket enough:
“We did go to the basket at times but at other times when we were making jumpers we forced things too much off the dribble. We became a one option team and that is very frustrating."

On playing seven guys:
“We had a day off yesterday and I thought we could manage the minutes well enough this way. I don’t know if that is right or wrong."

HEAT Guard Dwyane Wade

On what happened down the stretch:
“We made some bad decisions. We turned the ball over. You can’t win a ball game when you turn the ball over. They got some easy baskets in transition and executed down the stretch and we didn’t.”

How much of an adjustment playing without Shaq:
“There is always an adjustment playing without Shaq, but we were in the ballgame and in control of the game. We are still a good ballclub and we will continue to get better.

On defensive adjustments during the game:
“We did a great job for three quarters and a half but then we kind of broke down. You have to give their guards some credit. TJ and Mo did a great job of getting in the paint tonight."

HEAT Forward Udonis Haslem

On playing center:
“Same thing. Stay between the guy and the basket. Work him on the boards. Don’t give him anything easy. My job never changes.”

Milwaukee Bucks Head Coach Terry Stotts

On the comeback:

““It’s a habit I think I enjoy of this team, not the fact that we get down, but the fact that they continue to compete and play hard. The confidence that we’ve gained over the last three games knowing that we have the ability to come back on teams; it does a lot for our team. Our team showed a lot of heart and a lot of character and it’s a nice way to start the season.”

On what has been surprising of the team:
“I can’t say that anything has really surprised me. When Larry (Harris) put this roster together, one of the things we were impressed with, even in the summer, is the character of the players that we have and that’s been the most telling thing over three games. I’m pleased in a lot of areas. Their effort and focus defensively has been solid from day one of training camp. Their willingness to share the ball and make plays for each other has developed a rhythm on the offensive end. It’s a credit to them what they’re doing right now.”

On the absence of O’Neal:
When a player goes down, over the long haul it can take a toll on its team. But for the short term, that team over there has four all-stars on it and guys who have won a lot of big games in their careers. You saw what Alonzo Mourning, Gary Payton, Dwyane Wade and Antoine Walker can do. Those guys can play. Certainly, Shaquille O’Neal makes them better, but it’s not like they’re a bad team without him.

Bucks Guard Maurice Williams

Coming off bench and contributing:
“You know what, that’s my role now. Hopefully I can come out and do it every night. Some nights are not going to be as great but I just want to be solid, give us a spark…Toni (Kukoc) coming out, Danny G (Gadzuric), we have a strong bench, it’s not just me.”

On the game:
“They played really well tonight, which we knew they were going to do. We knew Dwyane Wade was going to be more aggressive, we knew Antoine Walker was going to be more aggressive, we knew Jason Williams was going to take more shots. We knew all those things. We knew they were going to come out like they did tonight and for us to come out and be solid, we fed off the crowd tonight.”

Bucks Forward Bobby Simmons

On his dunk near the end of the game:
“It felt great. I didn’t know who was back there. I was just trying to get it to the rim and make a play. They were in foul trouble and I knew that they were in foul trouble, so I just tried to get it to the rim. I saw somebody jump, so I was just trying to get it in as quick as possible."

On team play so far:
“It’s very early. We are still a young team and we are going to play every game as if it’s our last…on any given night anybody can step up for our ball club and to have five guys out there playing together is just great.”
