November 17, 2004 | Bradley Center | Miami HEAT - 113 | Milwaukee Bucks - 106

HEAT Head Coach Stan Van Gundy

On the game:
“I thought that in the first half we defended real well and I thought we did in the third quarter. So for three quarters I thought that we really defended well. In the fourth quarter, when they were just scrambling and coming at us, we didn’t play very many good possessions. We still have to learn to finish a little better, but obviously in the second half our offensive execution was fabulous. We only had six turnovers and shot seventy-five percent, Shaq made every play and picked apart double teams. He was just a force.”

On Eddie Jones:
“He’s a key guy because it has got to be three guys that we can count on. Not all three are going to be great every night. When it’s just the two guys it’s not enough and with the three of them, you can see tonight, you have a lot more options. I thought that everybody who played tonight made a positive contribution.”

On the slow start:
“We got off to bad start and then from there we just rode Shaq. To be quite honest, we just went to him on every position. I called, I think, two different plays in the entire third quarter. I just stayed with him and he made every play. You can’t play the game a whole lot better than Shaq played it in the second half.”

On Dwyane Wade:
“Dwyane was very good until the charge at the end. I sent him back in and said, ‘You have got to close out the game with really good decisions.’ He played very well, other than his free throw shooting. I like the way he played and defensively he was better.”

HEAT Guard Dwyane Wade

On Eddie Jones:
“He played a great game. He did more than just shoot the ball. Shaq and I told him before the game that we needed him today and he said that he was ready. He was focused. He came out with the mind set that he was going to attack tonight and he did a great job. We needed this win on the road and we needed him to have a big game for his confidence.”

On the cheers from the crowd for him:
“It felt good. Especially when I get a bigger ovation than the other team. It just show that when I was with Marquette I did a good job with the fans.”

HEAT Center Shaquille O'Neal

On the season:
“We are 6-3 over the first 9 games. We are the best team in our conference. We just want to beat the teams we are supposed to. Tonight we made a pretty good effort and we just want to go on from here.”
