November 14, 2004 | AmericanAirlines Arena | Miami HEAT - 112 | Milwaukee Bucks - 110

HEAT Head Coach Stan Van Gundy

On the Game:
“I thought it was nice to cruise through an easy one like that. That was one of the craziest basketball games I’ve ever been a part of. To be down four with 11.1 seconds remaining and to do what we did. We still had a foul to give so we were going to have to foul twice. Eddie made the great move to cut it to two and then we got a little bit lucky on the turnover.”

On the shot by Keyon Dooling at the end of the first overtime:
“For Keyon to sit for that long and then come back and make that play. Absolutely incredible. I put it with him because he is the quickest guy on the floor, even though he had sat for a long time. Looking at his numbers I’m wondering why he sat that long. He probably is to. What happens in those situations is that everybody is so afraid to foul somebody that they don’t play their normal defense and they end up letting him go and hope that he will miss it. ”

On the HEAT’s performance:
“We got a lot of shots we just couldn’t make them. I thought we executed pretty well. Their pick and roll game was very hard to handle and I made some tactical mistakes in what we were doing against it. I just loved the way our guys fought and fought and fought and fought. A great battle. I thought our bench was very good all night.”

On the free throw shooting of Shaquille O’Neal:
“Normally I won’t talk about this, but I’ll tell you what I told him afterwards. He shot them well the other night in San Antonio. The ones he missed early today, he shot well. That ball was up, it was right on the back rim but he was missing. What he needs is a belief in his technique, but because he hasn’t been a good free throw shooter, when a couple don’t go in his technique changes. I’m not telling you he is going to shoot 90 percent. I’m telling you that he can shoot 60 percent if he will stick with what he is doing.”

On the performance of Shandon Anderson:
“I thought Shandon played very well in the first half, but going down the stretch in games we are calling a lot of specials that he doesn’t know. He actually ran our offense pretty damn well.”

HEAT Guard Keyon Dooling

On the game:
“We had a tough game. We played every possession like it was the last. They gave us a chance to win and I was fortunate enough to get the shot (to tie the game).”

“Shaq (Shaquille O’Neal) is giving it his all and we are feeding off of him.”

“We stayed with them and hung with it, and made plays in the end.”

On his shot to tie the game:
“I knew we only had five seconds, the play was a ‘drag’ but I had to out run the screen just to try to get to the basket.”

“It felt great. The building went crazy. That’s my best moment in basketball, so far.”

HEAT Guard Eddie Jones

On the game:
“We just did not quit. We never gave up. Things looked grim and we just kept moving and kept attacking.”

“We had a great game plan down the stretch”

“It’s about growing up and learning character. I think tonight we definitely found out who we are.”

HEAT Center Shaquille O'Neal

On the game:
“It was a tough game. We played against a tough, talented team. They hit a lot of shots down the stretch, but we hung in there and didn’t give up. The guys showed a lot of heart, especially Keyon [Dooling]. He made a great play. He saved the day tonight.”

“We are known for playing aggressive defense, but we got stretched a little too far, and we left a great shooter open.”

“This team has a lot of heart, but we still make a lot of silly mistakes. The more we practice, and the more we play, hopefully those mistakes will be eliminated.”

“I didn’t shoot well from the line tonight, but the other guys stuck up for me. They just need to know that when they really need me, I will be there. I was not there tonight, but when they need me in the future, I will be there for them.”

“I never worry about percentages. I know a lot of guys who shoot 80 percent, but when they are down by one with a couple of seconds, they miss the shot. So, percentages never really concern me. I just try to make them when I go up there.”

HEAT Guard Dwyane Wade

On the game:
“It’s real hard to sit out and watch the game, but I lived through the other guys on the team. Tonight, I lived through Keyon (Dooling). I wished I were in there many times. The guys got confidence. They stepped up and made big shots. It was a lot of guys who stepped up tonight. I give Rasual (Butler) a lot of credit for hitting a big ‘three’ when we needed it. It shows a lot of heart.”

Bucks Head Coach Terry Porter

On the game and Shaquille O’Neal:
“I was happy with my guys, they went out and competed. Sometimes that happens with the schedule, late game last night, getting in here early in the morning. They went out and competed and gave us a great chance to win the game. We’ve had two games like that and we’ve lost them both. We have to keep believing. It was a heck of an effort.”

“I’ll take 19 points from Shaq [Shaquille O’Neal] with 42 minutes of play every time we play him. Our guys that guarded him did a good job of pushing him out. He’s a lot of man to try and guard.”

On Keyon Dooling’s tying shot at the end of the first overtime:
“He went by and laid it in. We have to do a better job of keeping guys in front in that scenario and not allow a guy to get to the basket. He made a play, he made a shot, congratulate him on making a play.”

On Keith Van Horn’s turnover at the end of regulation:
“I think he just dropped it. It looked like it hit his hands, you couldn’t totally tell because they were on the sideline, but it didn’t look like it was deflected.”

Bucks Forward/Guard Desmond Mason

On the HEAT contending for the Eastern Conference Finals:
“That’s tough to do. We gave ourselves a chance to win, and we felt like we should have won it in the first overtime. Then we had an opportunity in the second overtime to hit some shots, but it just slipped away.”

“We’ve got [the HEAT] back at home on Wednesday, so we’ll learn from this one and move on.”

Bucks Forward Keith Van Horn

On the game:
“After playing at 8:00 last night and getting in at four in the morning, going to double-overtime is tough to take.”

On his shooting:
“We called plays knowing how they were rotating throughout the game, so I was able to find my rhythm and hit some shots.”

On his turnover on the inbound pass during the first overtime:
“My mindset, while catching the ball was, simply, to protect myself because I knew they would try to reach in and steal the ball. I don’t know if I got bumped or not, but, regardless I should have caught it.”

On taking the final shot:
“We should have called a timeout. I think our mindset was that we didn’t have any when, actually, we did. So, we need to recognize those things and not have those breakdowns.”
