HEAT Head Coach Pat Riley

On the game:
"The key to our success tonight was staying in the game in the first half. They were nine for eleven in the first quarter and they were making everything. We were down fourteen, but we just stayed in the game. We kept close and cut it to five at half time, and then we had a great second half. Mike James was incredible. For a stretch, he really opened up the game for us and everybody made big plays."

On Eddie Jones' slow start:
"I was simply committed to playing him until he made a shot, and then I was going to get him a sub. I wasn't going to let him play sixteen minutes and not score. I think he might have scored early, but then he hit about eight or nine in a row. I have been playing him heavy minutes right now, and I have to remember to give him more of a rest. He has been playing great for us."

On their defense in second half:
"It was good. We did too much running and doubling on Spree in the first half, and we kept opening up threes and jumpers. We finally just stayed at home in the second half."

Miami Forward Malik Allen

On the slow start:
“It was a slow start but we kept playing hard. We tried to play through it, but it came back to haunt us in the fourth quarter.”

On the zone:
"The zone works. We’ve proven it works. We did great against Phoenix with it and you’re going to see it again."

Miami Guard Eddie Jones

On his slow start:
"When I started out 0-5, I really was not concerned. When I came out to shoot the ball before the game, I was shooting the ball so well. I just continued to take the same shots and I figured I would come around."

Miami Forward Brian Grant

On the play of Malik Allen & Mike James:
"We need guys stepping up. We got Eddie (Jones) playing at the top of his game right now. We know even with that he's not going to be able to do it every night by himself like that, so we're going to need guys to step up in different areas and doing different things. Tonight Mike James stepped up for some big time shots in crucial moments when we were trying to break it open. Malik hit some nice open shots, great defense by the both of them."

Knicks Head coach Don Chaney

On the Knicks in the second half:
"In the second half we tried to force shots. When you get to that point where you lack patience in your offense, you end up taking bad shots.

On the HEAT:
"We didn't have any legs late (in the game). It was obvious that we had a hard time keeping up with guys. They did a really good thing. They stayed active and they cut hard. They made us react defensively, but we were a step slow."

On the Knicks:
"It's going to be tough from this point on, but it's going to be interesting. It's going to be a huge challenge for us. We've had two games now where we've played sub-par. What we have to do is regroup. We have to concentrate on things that we're not doing and continue to work on it. It's all about execution, energy, and aggression."

On the Knicks defense:
"We can't let teams shoot high percentages on us. We have to do a better job in rebounding. That's the key for us. We're a small team. We have to rebound."

Knicks Guard Allan Houston

On Miami playing hard:
"They definitely played extremely hard. They were very persistent throughout the whole game. We were just up and down. We were just inconsistent the whole game. We were not as mentally focused and intent to do what it took to win."

On Knicks offense:
"We had some shots that did not go in. We had a lot of tip-ins that did not fall. We just did not do those extra things. We are a team. We have to go extra. We have to put in 110 percent. If we don't that's not going to be enough."

Knicks Center Kurt Thomas

On the game:
"We had a great start in the first quarter. Miami kept fighting and got back in it, only being down five at the half, it went back and forth in the third, but at the end, they just took over".

On Fatigue:
"We played hard defense, but they hit a lot of tough shots".

On back to back losses:
"It's been tough these last two games. We need to regroup and get our minds together over the holidays. We need to come back focused and try to make a run".

On standings:
"I do not worry about them until the All Star Break".

On losing a lead:
"Whenever you get a lead, you want to keep it, and build on it. You have to give Miami credit, they played great defense and made tough shots".

Knicks Forward/Guard Latrell Sprewell

On fatigue:
"Last night was a tough loss and tonight, we didn't play well in the fourth. Fatigue is not an excuse. There are other teams playing night after night".

On the HEAT:
"Their spirit was high all game, even when we were making our shots. This showed that they wanted the game more than we did, and we cant have that, especially at home".

On two losses in a row:
"We win a couple, then we kind of take two steps back. These are things that we need to be better at [as a team]".

On the HEAT's bench:
"They stepped up for them, and made the shots that they needed to make".
