MIAMI, February 7 – The NBA announced tonight that HEAT All-Star Chris Bosh will represent the Eastern Conference in the 2014 Sears Shooting Stars competition as part of State Farm All-Star Saturday Night on February 15 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. The all-inclusive skills showcase will be televised live on TNT and broadcast live on ESPN Radio reaching fans in 215 countries and territories in more than 47 languages.
Bosh, a nine-time NBA All-Star, is shooting 53.1 percent from the field this season while already connecting on a single-season career-high 36 three-point field goals. He has now totaled 73 made three-pointers as a member of the HEAT, the most by a HEAT player 6’11’ or taller in franchise history. He shot a perfect 9-of-9 from the field at Orlando on January 4, tying for the most makes without a miss during a single game in team history. Additionally, he shot at least 50 percent from the field in 10-straight games from December 10-28, tying for the longest such streak of his career.
Bosh will once again be paired with NBA Legend Dominique Wilkins and WNBA player Swin Cash to defend their Shooting Stars title which they captured during the 2013 NBA All-Star Saturday Night competition in Houston. The other East squad will consist of NBA Legend and current HEAT Scout/Community & Corporate Liaison Tim Hardaway along with NBA player Tim Hardaway Jr. and WNBA player Elena Delle Donne. The West teams will feature NBA player Stephen Curry, NBA Legend Dell Curry and WNBA player Becky Hammon and NBA player Kevin Durant, NBA Legend Karl Malone and WNBA player Skylar Diggins.
The Sears Shooting Stars contest will feature one current NBA player, one current WNBA player and an NBA legend on each team, with two teams representing each conference. There are four numbered shooting locations of increasing difficulty, with each team attempting to make all shots in numeric order in the fastest time. The best team in each conference will square off in the championship round with the team that completes all four shots in the least amount of time will win $100,000 for their conference’s charities.
