ATLANTA HAWKS TO CELEBRATE
NOCHE LATINA ON FRIDAY, APRIL 14

Latin recording artists Pilar Montenegro and
Adassa slated to perform post-game concert

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Hawks will celebrate Hispanic culture and heritage on Friday, April 14 by holding Noche Latina (Latin Night) when the team takes on the Charlotte Bobcats at Philips Arena (7:00 pm tipoff).

A number of festivities are planned, highlighted by a post-game concert featuring Latin recording artists Pilar Montenegro and Adassa. The concert is free for anyone holding a game ticket. Members of the A-Town Dancers are slated to perform with the artists.

Montenegro won three 2003 Billboard Latin Music Awards, including “Female Group or Solo Artist of the Year,” and is also a well-known actress, having appeared on a number of Spanish television programs. Adassa has released two studio albums and toured with such performers as Lil’ Jon, Juvenile, and others.

“Noche Latina is one of many broad-based initiatives that surround Hawks games as part of our growing diversity efforts," said Hawks President and CEO Bernie Mullin. “The support we have gained from the entire Hispanic community has been terrific and we welcome the opportunity to expose more fans to NBA basketball while celebrating Atlanta's vibrant Hispanic culture.”

A special halftime ceremony is planned, where Angela Moore will present the Atlanta Hawks with a Phoenix Award, on behalf of the City of Atlanta and Mayor Shirley Franklin, recognizing Noche Latina as part of the organization’s initiatives within the Hispanic community. State Senator Sam Zamarripa will also present a proclamation acknowledging the Atlanta Hawks’ commitment to celebrating Hispanic culture, and bestow Hawks President and CEO Bernie Mullin with honorary State Senatorship.

Additional components of the evening include a mariachi band performing outside Philips Arena and on the concourse prior to tipoff, starting lineups for both teams announced in English and Spanish, a live DJ spinning the latest Latin tracks, and more. Adassa is also scheduled to perform “The Star Spangled Banner.”

Hawks inflatables will be set up outside the arena beginning 5:30 pm, and the A-Town Dancers will perform Latin-inspired dance routines during the game.

Additionally, the Hawks are teaming-up with the “UPS Drives for a Cause” program. Volunteers will be collecting new and gently used books (in English and Spanish) at the Philips Arena entrances, which will be donated to the Hawks’ Reading & Learning Centers. Anyone donating a book will receive a complimentary Hawks canvas tote bag (while supplies last).
