ATLANTA, GA -- Atlanta Hawks General Manager Billy Knight announced on Feb. 19 that the club has obtained a first-round draft pick (owed to Detroit from Milwaukee), guard Bob Sura and center Zeljko Rebraca from the Detroit Pistons, as well as veteran forward Chris Mills from the Boston Celtics, with forward Rasheed Wallace going to the Pistons in exchange. As part of the three-team deal, Chucky Atkins, Lindsey Hunter, a first-round draft pick and cash compensation go from Detroit to Boston in exchange for Mike James.

Sura

"As with our other recent trades, this is a move that can help us going forward," Knight said. "Moving Rasheed to Detroit gives us another first-round draft pick, which we hope will produce talent that will help us. It gives us another asset to add to our group. We also believe the players we're getting will help us this year, and possibly in the future."

"It was nice (having Rasheed) while it lasted," said head coach Terry Stotts. "I have a whole lot of respect for him. He is so talented with the ability to do many things."

Rebraca

I think our approach will be very similar to what has happened over the past few weeks. We must continue to play hard and play together. I've said all along that Billy has done a terrific job in executing these moves. He's doing what's best for the franchise and he should be commended for that. We're well-positioned to begin our rebuilding process."

Sura has averaged 3.8 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.7 apg and 13.3 mpg in 53 contests (.410 FG%, .250 3FG%, .696 FT%) this season. He came to the Pistons in exchange for Clifford Robinson and Pepe Sanchez on 8/21/03 from Golden State. He spent three years with the Warriors, after playing his first five NBA seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Florida State product ('95) was selected by the Cavs in the first round (17th overall) of the 1995 NBA Draft, one pick after Alan Henderson. Over his career, he has averaged 8.1 ppg, 3.5 apg, 3.0 rpg, 1.0 spg and 22.4 mpg in 569 games (128 starts), shooting.412 FG%, .322 3FG%, .674 FT%.

Mills

Rebraca is a native of Serbia-Montenegro, and has played in 125 career games (all with the Pistons), averaging 6.2 ppg and 3.4 rpg in 15.1 mpg (.508 FG%, .777 FT%). This season, he's appeared in 21 contests (two starts), putting in 3.1 ppg and 2.3 rpg in 10.6 mpg (.407 FG%, .786 FT%). He was originally selected by Seattle in the second round (54th overall pick) of the 1994 NBA Draft, then had his draft rights sent to Minnesota. He subsequently played in Italy, before being traded to Toronto, then to Detroit on 7/18/01.

Mills has been on the injured list the entire season with bone spurs in his Right Achilles. The 10-year veteran (Arizona '93) played his first four seasons in Cleveland, then one with the New York Knicks, and five with Golden State, before being traded in a mutli-player deal to Dallas on 8/18/03. He was subsequently dealt to the Celtics on 10/20/03, along with Raef LaFrentz, Jiri Welsch and a first-round pick in exchange for Antoine Walker and Tony Delk. He has career averages of 11.2 ppg, 4.9 rpg and 1.9 apg (.432 FG%, .351 3FG%, .817 FT%) in 568 games (328 starts).

Wallace was acquired on February 9 from the Portland Trail Blazers, along with Wesley Person, in exchange for Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Theo Ratliff and Dan Dickau. He played in one game for the Hawks (last night in New Jersey), recording 20 points and 6 rebounds in 41 minutes. He is a nine-year veteran and two-time All-Star.
