Schröder Scores 7 Points, Germany Beats Finland
Atlanta Hawks point guard Dennis Schröder scored seven points off the bench to help Germany beat Finland 74-67 in a tune-up game before the 2015 EuroBasket qualifying round in August.
Schröder, who only joined the team Wednesday after playing in the Las Vegas Summer League with Atlanta last week, figures to play a prominant role with the team but was not a starter Sunday.
Germany is automatically entered into the second round of qualifying because they did not qualify past the first round of EuroBasket last year. They are in Group C of the second qualifying round along with Austria, Poland and Luxembourg and will tip off Aug. 10. They will play each of their three group opponents twice and must finish at least second to have a chance at advancing to the final round.
Finland qualified for the 2014 FIBA World Cup and will participate in the tournament later this summer.
