HAWKS TO HOLD PORTION OF 2013 TRAINING CAMP IN ATHENS
First time Hawks will hold training camp outside of Atlanta since 2004.
ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Hawks will hold training camp at the Coliseum Training Facility on the campus of the University of Georgia from Oct. 1-3. The team’s annual Media Day will take place in Atlanta at Philips Arena on Monday, Sept. 30 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. before the team departs for Athens.
The Coliseum Training Facility is a state-of-the-art, 120,000-square-foot facility built exclusively for Georgia’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball Programs. It resides adjacent to the historic Stegeman Coliseum.
“I’m excited to have our first training camp at the University of Georgia and to make use of their first-class facilities,” said Head Coach Mike Budenholzer. “Being in Athens to start camp will provide us a great opportunity to focus on building team chemistry and developing the unselfish and hard-working mentality that will be central to how we compete every night.”
This marks the first time that the Hawks have held training camp away from Atlanta since the 2004-05 season when the Hawks held a portion of camp on the campus of Mercer University in Macon.
