Hawks Won't Have To "Worry" With Lucky Stone
The Hawks “Test Your Good Luck” Contest is over, and GM Billy Knight
has in his possession now the lucky charm that will hopefully help the team
obtain the #1 pick in the draft for the first time in franchise history.
Over 100 people submitted entries to help bring the Hawks good luck, and the
winner turned out to be John Anderson, a long-time fan. Anderson submitted his
lucky worry stone, a gift he received from a friend returning from a
trip to Ireland.
Below is the entry submitted by Anderson, who has been a mainstay at Hawks home
games for several years:
Towards the end of the 2003-2004 season, when Mr. Billy Knight was walking
into the portal towards the locker rooms, I had my luckiest charm of all, my
Irish luck stone in my hand as he shook it. During the 2005 season, I had the
stone in my pocket for all 9 home wins at Philips, also got the acceptance to
many colleges, straight A’s, and of course…a 25% chance at the #1 pick.
I’m a lifelong hawks fan…if anything, this is the start of a new era. Thanks so
much Mr. Knight – you’re bringing hope to us all.
John Anderson
Knight will carry the lucky ornament with him to Secaucus, NJ for the
announcement of the 2005 Draft Lottery.
Will Anderson’s lucky charm help make the difference for the Hawks? We’ll know
the answer Tuesday night.
