SportSouth becomes new regional home for Hawks basketball

ATLANTA, GA (October 7, 2010) -- The Atlanta Hawks announced their 2010-11 television broadcast schedule today, and for the second straight season, all 82 games will be televised regionally or on one of the NBA's national broadcast affiliates. For the first time ever, every Hawks game will be available in High Definition (HD).

Seventy-five (75) games will be televised in HD between Hawks' broadcast partners SportSouth and Fox Sports South. SportSouth, the new regional home for the Hawks, will televise 74 of those games, starting with the season opener October 27 at Memphis. The network also has the call for Atlanta's first home game of the year three nights later (October 30) when the first overall pick of last year's NBA Draft, John Wall and the Washington Wizards come to town.

SportSouth's Hawks package will also include all four games against the Miami Heat (December 4, January 18, March 18 and April 11), and the two games against the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers (February 22 and March 8). In addition, the network also airs the first meeting of the year against the Eastern Conference finalist Boston Celtics on November 22.

SportSouth will have 36 games from Philips Arena and 38 road contests. The lone FOX Sports South telecast will take place March 4 at Philips when the Hawks host the Oklahoma City Thunder. Schedule and channel designations are subject to change.

The additional seven telecasts will be nationally televised on ESPN or TNT, as ESPN will be home to four Hawks games, starting with the November 12 home game against the Utah Jazz, while TNT's three-game coverage starts Thanksgiving night when Atlanta plays Washington. NBA TV will pick up SportSouth's broadcasts on seven occasions.

Bob Rathbun and Dominique Wilkins return for the third straight season as the Hawks play-by-play announcer and game analyst, respectively, while Jerome Jurenovich will serve as the sideline reporter. Jurenovich will also host Atlanta Hawks 360, a new, monthly program providing in-depth features and expert analysis on the team.

Also new this season, SportSouth will televise a 30-minute Hawks LIVE pregame show prior to all game telecasts on the network, in addition to the return of Hawks LIVE post-game coverage. Vince Cellini makes his debut on SportSouth as the host of Hawks LIVE alongside analyst Mike Glenn.

Hawks' games on SportSouth and FOX Sports South are available in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi (excluding the Biloxi/Gulfport, Memphis and New Orleans DMAs), Tennessee (excluding the Memphis and Jackson DMAs), the Charleston, Augusta and Savannah DMA of South Carolina, the counties of Graham, Jackson, Macon and Swain in the Greenville-Spartanburg DMA of North Carolina, and the counties of Abbeville, Anderson and Oconee in Greenville-Spartanburg DMA.
