SALT LAKE CITY (July 17) – After leading by as many as 13 in the first half, the Atlanta Hawks (2-2) saw their advantage dissolve, and despite re-taking the lead in the fourth quarter, fell to the Chicago Bulls in summer league play in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, 85-79.

"They're a physical team, and we got into foul trouble early, and had to go to a zone," Hawks summer league coach Larry Drew said. "They hit some timely shots, and we weren't able to overcome that."

Atlanta enjoyed a strong first half, taking a 43-34 advantage into the locker room. But the Bulls came out red-hot in the third quarter, outscoring Atlanta 31-16 in the period to take a six-point advantage (65-59). However, the Hawks fought back to take the lead early in the fourth, before Chicago made a couple late plays to claim the win. The Bulls had a huge advantage from the foul line, knocking down 29-41, while the Hawks made just 13-22.

Aaron Gray (15) led Chicago, while Boo Davis followed with 14 off the bench.

Ronnell Taylor (8 pts) was enjoying a solid game, but left in the second quarter with a right eye contusion and did not return. Al Horford missed his second consecutive game due to a right ankle sprain, and will be a game-time decision for Thursday's contest against Utah (9 p.m. ET).

SALT LAKE CITY (July 16) – Acie Law and Shelden Williams had outstanding efforts, helping lead the Hawks to an 83-77 summer league win over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday in Salt Lake City.

"Acie and Shelden really played well tonight, and were consistent throughout," Hawks summer league head coach Larry Drew said. "But Earl Calloway was the difference maker in this game. He came in and gave us a huge lift when we needed it, and made the most of his time on the court."

Law, who made 6-8 FGs and 12-13 FTs en route to 24 points, added 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Living up to his college reputation, the rookie made several big plays down the stretch (including 4 points and an assist in the final minute) to secure the win for the Hawks.

Atlanta was down 22-19 after one, and trailed 44-40 at the midway point. But the Hawks cranked up the defensive effort in the third, outscoring Dallas 22-11. The Mavericks tightened things up in the fourth, before Law took control late.

Williams totalled 20 for the Hawks, and Devin Green followed with 9, while Solomon Jones scored 8 to go with his 2 blocks.

SALT LAKE CITY (July 13) -- Despite Al Horford's game-high 18 points, the Atlanta Hawks summer league squad came up short against the host Utah Jazz, 64-63, on Friday night in both teams' opener at the Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City.

"We gave a tremendous effort tonight, especially defensively," said Hawks summer league head coach Larry Drew. "Our guys did a good job working together in trying to execute our defensive game plan. But we didn't make the play at the end."

The Hawks were down two (62-60) with 11.7 seconds left, when they executed the drawn-up play perfectly, resulting in a Shelden Williams three-point play with 5.9 seconds left to go ahead by one. But Utah's Paul Millsap scored on a putback with 1.7 seconds remaining for the winning basket. Williams' 75-foot heave bounced off the backboard and rim as time expired.

Supporting Horford's 18, Williams scored 11 points to go along with his 8 boards, while Acie Law had 7 points and a team-high 5 assists.

"Al was a beast around the basket," Drew said. "He played like an NBA veteran tonight."

After one period, the teams were tied at 18, as both clubs shot the ball well from the field (Atl-54.5, Utah-57.1). The second quarter was more of a defensive battle, and Jarrius Jackson's long jumper at the buzzer knotted the score at 33. Utah snagged a one-point advantage through three, before the see-saw fourth.

Millsap, Morris Almond and Matt Lojeski led Utah with 12 points apiece.

The Hawks next face San Antonio on Saturday at 6:30 ET.
