ATLANTA HAWKS UNVEIL NEW
COMMUNITY BASKETBALL COURT

ATLANTA, GA (June 4, 2005) -- Atlanta Hawks players Josh Smith and Royal Ivey joined other guests, including, Antje Wortman, former Hawks guard Mike “Stinger” Glenn, and Bob Rathbun, to unveil a refurbished basketball court at Welcome All Park on June 4 as part of the Hawks Court Renovation Program (presented by The Home Depot). The event included a special ribbon-cutting ceremony, free basketball and dance clinics, music, games, prizes and more. Welcome All Park is home to the sixth newly-built or renovated court donated by the team since the program’s inception.

In memory of Hawks scout Gary Wortman, who passed away in 2000, the Atlanta Hawks Court Renovation Program builds and renovates basketball courts in underprivileged neighborhoods throughout the Atlanta area each year. At each location, the Hawks and The Home Depot put down new pavement, install new backboards, rims, nets and fencing, as well as make any other needed repairs.

(From L to R) Atlanta Spirit VP of Community Development Laverne Henderson, The Home Depot Support Center’s Andrew Moffatt, Antje Wortman, Director of Fulton County Parks & Recreation John H. Culbreth, Fulton County Commissioner William Edwards and Hawks forward Josh Smith take part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Welcome All Park.
