Information On the Fox/Dish Network Dispute

Sport South & Dish Network Update

Will Atlanta Hawks fans have to drop Dish Network to see their favorite basketball team this season? That may be the case.

The Hawks are scheduled to play 75 times on SportSouth this season. But if you have Dish Network, there is no guarantee that you'll see any of those games.

Here is the current situation:

  • On October 1, Dish Network dropped Sport South (and all FSN networks throughout the United States) because it refused to reach a fair agreement with Fox to carry the network.
  • As a result, Hawks fans that have Dish Network will miss all Hawks games and related programming on Sport South until a fair agreement can be reached. Dish Network cust omers would also miss Atlanta Thrashers games and ACC and SEC basketball games, as well as other programming. Dish Network cust omers also currently do not receive FX or the National Geographic Channel.

Dish’s competitors are ready, willing and able to make great offers to fans that don’t want to miss their Hawks games. Sport South is offered by a number of other local distributors in our area (DIRECTV and Comcast among others). Every Hawks game televised on SportSouth will be available on these carriers.

If you are not a Dish cust omer, you will not be affected and get to enjoy all of Sport South’s Hawks’ telecasts this season.
