Hawks Acquire Second Round Pick from Phoenix
HAWKS ACQUIRE SECOND ROUND PICK FROM PHOENIX SUNS
ATLANTA, GA (July 14, 2010) -- The Atlanta Hawks have acquired a future second-round draft pick from the Phoenix Suns in a sign-and-trade transaction in exchange for guard Josh Childress, according to Executive Vice President/General Manager Rick Sund. The Hawks will also get a trade exception to use within the next year as a result of the deal. Per team policy, the financial terms were not disclosed.
“Once we decided not to match Phoenix’s offer, it made sense for us to work with the Suns in a sign-and-trade transaction,” Sund said. “The move allows us to add a second-round pick to our draft arsenal. In addition, we add a trade exception.”
Childress, who played for Olympiacos in Greece the last two years, averaged 11.1 ppg in four years (285 games) with the Hawks from 2004-08. He was originally selected sixth overall by Atlanta in the 2004 NBA Draft.
