The Atlanta Hawks are starting to prepare for the 2005-06 season, and the first thing on the agenda is the 2005 NBA Draft, tonight at 7:30 on ESPN. With the #2 overall pick and two second-rounders as well (#31, #59), the Hawks are in position to significantly upgrade their roster.
Be sure to check back as we keep you posted on all of the players who come through town to work out as we lead up to the draft proceedings on Tuesday, June 28, at the Theater at Madison Square Garden (coverage begins at 7:30 pm on ESPN).

Hawks
G Royal Ivey went through the grueling draft process last season, working out
for several teams before being taken by the Hawks with the 37th pick in the 2004
NBA Draft. We caught up to Royal at one of the Hawks pre-draft workouts
this week to find out what the experience was like for him and what it is like

| The Hawks have never had the #2 pick in the NBA Draft before, and haven't had the #1 pick since the Draft Lottery was instituted in 1985. The team's previous highest pick was the #3 selection in 2001, which they shipped to Memphis in the draft night trade that brought Shareef Abdur-Rahim to Atlanta. |

along with Brevin Knight and Lorenzen Wright, in exchange for Shareef
Abdur-Rahim and the 27th pick in the draft

future first-round selection. Vancouver chose Tinsley on behalf of Atlanta as
part of a trade agreement.
